We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
When I started my business I had a full time job, so balancing that with taking care of my daughter was definitely hard at first. My daughter being only a year old at the time, the support of my family really helped while I started the process of getting my business out there. Once my business started picking up I was able to switch my day job to part time and spend more time on my business. I’ve learned ways to be able to set up marketing posts on social media so that I dont have to work everyday on getting more clients. The best part is now that my daughter is almost three I have her on ABC mouse while I get work done. Being able to make my own schedule and spend time with my daughter is the main reason why I started my business.

What should our readers know about your business?
I signed the lease for my suite in February of 2019, which was the first risk I’ve ever taken to be start up my business. The weekend I was suppose to open the governor shut everything down so I was not able to take client. That was the most stressful time and wondering how I could make it through a pandemic as a new business. Many business owners say not to expect a profit for the first three years but how does that work during a pandemic? When everything opened up and I was able to start taking clients my mindset switched. Kept telling myself that if my business can make it through a pandemic I can make it through anything else that may come my way. I have worked on my social media presence and working with marketing business to get my business out there. I am so passionate about getting people a safe place to get waxed. I wax all shapes and sizes, but I take pride in waxing plus size and pregnant women because they tend to have some terrible waxing experiences. I wanted to get into the beauty industry to make people feel better about themselves and Waxing by Brittany does just that.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The first place I would plan to go is Stand Up Live because there is nothing better than a night of laughs and a few drinks. Hash Kitchen is my go to when it comes to brunch because of their portion sizes. Any time of day Jamaris’ Kitchen is perfect, the food is so full of flavor. We would also try axe throwing, shooting range, and visit Tempe Town Lake.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my family and my friend Jennifer Johnson. My family has helped so much with my daughter so that I am able to take extra clients. Jennifer has been amazing when it comes to spreading the word about my business or even supporting my business by getting services.
