Meet Bruce Dunbar | Burro tender and joy facilitator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bruce Dunbar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bruce, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Keeping things organized and making lists keeps me on track. With all the business and life obligations I need to stay focused on a daily basis. I try to never put off till tomorrow what I can do today.
I try to keep a positive attitude and not worry about the future or the past, stay in the present.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
By bringing our donkeys to weddings, special events, retirement homes and parties we get to cater each experience individually. This often brings with it certain challenges and it is never the same experience for any two clients. We have to think on our feet and listen to our clients needs and desires to bring the most that we can to each event. We started out one wedding at a time and as our reputation grew so did our business. We always listen to the feedback we receive and take it to heart, applying it to our next job.
We know it is a privilege to be involved with people’s special day and we don’t take their trust lightly.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would start out with a burro hike in the Superstition mountains, bringing along some snacks and plenty of water. The desert is a beautiful place to explore and is ever changing, hiking with the donkeys makes the experience even more exciting. After that I would take them to Safford to the Essence of Tranquility. It is a rustic hot springs with a choice of mineral pools and great views.
I would finish the day up with an outdoor dinner prepared on a open fire, with lots of fresh tortillas and chilies. Dinner under the Arizona sky is great way to finish up your day.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My partner, Gretchen Klett, has been a lifelong source of strength and inspiration to me. She keeps me grounded and focused on the task at hand while showing me the joy and childlike excitement in day to day life.
