We had the good fortune of connecting with Bruce Finocchio and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bruce, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“Don’t Die With Your Music Still Within You” ~ Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, 10 Secrets for Success and Inner Peace

It means you need to follow your passion and follow what you love. What inspires you! Take this path and journey because it is what is meant for you and your life. Follow your heart and what you know to be true; if you follow your head and the noise put there by others, you’ll never find happiness or inner peace.

When you leave this earth, you’ll have regrets reverberating in your mind, repeatedly echoing the words. “Only if I had followed my passion.” Regrets will haunt you, and your leaving will be filled with anxiety and troubled thoughts. The passing to the next life will be disturbed, agitated, and challenging.

If you are doing what you love, then you inspire others. They feel your energy and positive spirit. Wherever you go, you touch others and positively affect their lives. Plus, your star and spirit will blaze with the power of love.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
It all began because my Dad was a deer hunter, and as his son, he expected me to follow in his footsteps. I killed many birds, ground squirrels, and rabbits as a young boy. Then, in my teens, with my first big rifle, I took up deer hunting. That was short-lived. After watching the light of life go out of a black-tailed buck’s eyes by my hand. I choose to preserve the lives of animals. This was a seminal moment in becoming the nature photographer I am today.

My father’s Ramrod Ranch, now mine, in the upper reaches of the Arroyo Seco Valley, Greenfield, California, has become my beloved and sacred place, where I learned to love wildlife, especially birds. I became fascinated with their beautiful sounds, varied and gorgeous coloring, and exciting bird behaviors.

I have cultivated a passionate desire to create images of nature that are alive with beauty. Honing my photographic talents and developing my artistic style allows me to capture the majesty and sacredness of life. I have also learned to love wildlife and the natural world by photographing birds and other animals in such proximity.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Although, there is nature in the city. It’s hard to find and drowned out by the activity of humans. I would first take my friend to my beloved Ramrod Ranch or any other wild place or a national park or take my friend hiking on some trail in the wild places of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I believe in Ubuntu; I am because of you. It can also be stated that people are people because of people. It’s an ancient African philosophy and way of life. So, many people along my life journey have shaped the person I am today.
The principle that also guides me is “Let me help.” These are the words Joan Collins said to William Shatner in the famous Star Trek episode, The City on the Edge of Forever.

I was born on Valentine’s Day, so love guides my life. Love can change individuals, and individuals can change the world for the better.

Maybe too many. Ubuntu and love are idealistic, but I believe this is the only hope for humanity.
