We had the good fortune of connecting with Bryanna Aliyah Alvarado and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bryanna Aliyah, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Since I can remember I have always been artistic and creative. Remembering the times where I would create DIYs in my treehouse and sell duct tape wallets at school. I recall always looking at YouTube videos on how to make slime and would decorate pencils to sell during recess. I feel like also having a hardworking family influenced me into always wanting to work harder. My parents always made sure I was always in line with my schoolwork and always had straight A’s. Since I am still in high school, I hope to study Marketing at the University of Arizona. I started my business in my sophomore year two years ago, which I began during quarantine. I design and sell phone cases. Along with phone accessories, jewelry, hair accessories and more to come. I leave everything at affordable prices which are all under $12.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started out as Aesthetic iPhone Cases then switched to Aesthetic Creations to be able to expand into more products. I started in June 2020 when I was 15 years old. I design phone cases, phone grips, phone charms, wallets, and more phone accessories. I sell all those phone accessories plus hair clips, jewelry, and tote bags. What sets my business apart from other businesses is that I handmake majority of these products and leave them all at affordable prices. I am most proud of my business is how much love it got online. I post on social media daily and create marketing strategies to target my teen audience. It wasn’t exactly easy to get where I am today, it definitely took a lot of hard work and time. Some challenges and obstacles I had to overcome were investigating the correct machines I needed to create my phone cases, finding phone cases with the most quality at a good price where I could still make profit. Another challenge was definitely having enough to invest in Aesthetic Creations. A way I overcame these obstacles were by saving and reinvesting every penny I made into my business. Lessons I learned along the way were definitely realizing that everything takes time. I’m not always going to have orders, I’m not going to have thousands of followers, everything takes time and patience. Another lesson would be if you would want to start a business to choose something you really enjoy doing, something that does not feel like a job. Creating this company at such a young age taught me that I can make money by doing something I absolutely love doing. I believe if you do something you love to do the money will always follow. Lastly, something I want the world to know about my brand is that it is filled with lots of love, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for my brand in the future.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Some of my favorite spots in Nogales, Arizona are La Cocina La Ley for breakfast, which are these delicious tacos de cabeza and birria. For lunch my go-to is definitely Okiroki, sushi place, I usually order a Nogales Roll. For a drink I would go to my favorite place, Liv’s Boba Cafe, where their slushies are the absolute best, I always order the Gemini Drink (Mango Slushie with Chamoy and Tajin). I would for sure visit any local sports games whether it’d be football or baseball. Since it’s such a small city you can find everyone, and or meet new people. In my point of view, since Nogales is right by the border, we create our own type of community that is very welcoming and close.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without the love and support from my family, Aesthetic Creations would not be where it is today. My parents have both supported me in my business. My mom helps me deliver phone cases and help me set up at local pop ups. My dad gives me advice in some business decisions I had to do. My sister helps me out at popups and helps me make phone charms for events. Shoutout to Liv’s Boba Cafe, a local boba shop in Nogales, because I did my first ever pop up with them and if it weren’t for them, I would not have gotten to where I am today.
