We had the good fortune of connecting with Candace Hershberger and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Candace, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
Kids are sponges and watch everything we do and say. Have a home business has shown my kids how to work hard and play hard. When you have hard days they see those, when you have good days they are those too! They are us celebrating small wins and big wins along the way. I think the most important thing is to not hide it from them but see how it works and let them get involved with you. They can do more than we think!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Thirty One sells bags, totes, gifts, and home decor and organization. My favorite part is how we are able to make the bag your own with personalization. Words really important to me to keep my thoughts and mind in the right place and so being able to get phrases that keep me positive are amazing! It has not always been easy, but consistently is key to all success! As long as I keep focused time each day on the things that need to get done I see results! It’s like a slinky that started getting momentum as it goes down stairs. The more you are doing the work the more comes out of it. My husband was diagnosed with cancer a year after I started this business and I can truly say that without it we would not be where we are today! After 7 years of battling he has been cancer free for just over a year now. The success we had with this fun bags side gig really kept our family going through it all!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love fun visits to new places! Hiking is a key! White tanks, north mountain, anywhere really! Food is a good second! Abbie Cakes for all your deserts and coffee as well as Dutch Bros! Craft places are fun too like a paint and wine place! Also boutiques would be fun like the Grand Project in Peoria!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Martha Irvine, my sister sure does know how to be a huge help! Jon Hershberger, my hubby who works super hard for us! Fellow 31 sisters, especially those in Arizona!
