We had the good fortune of connecting with Charles And Candice Mintz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Charles and Candice, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
This is a great question, that I believe is truly situational. For us, we had never really been all in with the business so we hadn’t experienced most of the ups and downs that are usually part of the process- we were kind of in a weird position. We wanted to keep going and we knew it would require us to take the leap and deal with things as they came. We hadn’t been consistent on social media, we hadn’t put out any new product- there were so many areas we were dry in, so we felt until we gave our all in these areas we couldn’t really make a sound decision ourselves on whether or not to throw in the towel. Mentally we said,”we gotta keep going”, and we needed to be sure actions matched that, as for us that would be the only way we’d know down the road whether to keep going or hang it up. My 2 cents is this, if you have been in business for a bit and the plan you’ve been following hasn’t been working, pivot and try something different (just make sure it’s in alignment with your brand), don’t just throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks. Ensure that you’re doing all you can to help the business thrive without taking shortcuts or skipping steps. Obviously what you feel in your heart and what your bank account say may be two different things, but at the end of the day you’ll know, and I mean you will truly know when it’s time to hang it up, or if you should keep going.

What should our readers know about your business?
We are an apparel company first, with some subsidiaries attached. Everything we do carries the IAC (Intelligence And Confidence) Lyfestyle name. IAC Active Lyfestyle is the active/lifestyle apparel brand which is our main focus. Candice runs her makeup and nail business, IAC Beauty in which she focuses on makeup and nails as she is a certified MUA. I also have an audio engineering/music company called IAC Sounds, where my focus is songwriting and audio engineering. One thing that sets us apart is what we stand for and the values the brand carries, we wanted to be sure that when we set out on this venture we stood for something that others could relate to and resonate with. It has not been easy, but it’s definitely been rewarding and we understand that there will always be challenges, so we just take them in stride. We’ve found the best way to overcome them is to keep going and work through them. We want the world to know that our brand is not just a logo on a shirt, we stand for something and we live it, we believe in it, and there’s no compromise when it comes to it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some places we would definitely have to hit would be some hole in the wall style restaurants, I mean who doesn’t love food!!! I don’t drink so I can’t vouch for any good bars, however, I would be a damn good DD hahahaha. Hiking would definitely be a must, as well as exploring some hot spots in the surrounding areas. Theres so much scenery and great outdoor spots in the area, we’d be fools to not take advantage of being outdoors. There’s almost always a concert or some sort of show happening so the list of things to do would be full for sure!!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We love this!!! We have built somewhat of a cult following over the past few years and much of our success is dedicated to them. The ones who brag about us when we aren’t around, the ones who hype us up and mention our names in rooms we aren’t in are the real ones. It takes a community and thats what were building, so to everyone who reposts, shouts us out, brags about our brands, we appreciate you and we most certainly wouldn’t be here without you all!!! Also to our small, but loyal team we couldn’t do it without y’all!! (You know who you are)
