We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Robb and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christina, what principle do you value most?
The value/principle that matters most to me in regards to my business is choosing a plan that works best for my patients, even when it may not be best for my wallet. I worked for others for years and I often felt that I was pushed to sell services, sell products, sell, sell, sell. This left me uncomfortable and my patients feeling like they were sold stuff they didn’t need which ultimately negatively affected my relationship to the medicine that I was practicing. I swore that if and when I opened my own practice I would always do what was right for the patient even if it meant less money for me. I promised to imagine every patient as a friend or family member and recommend only what I felt was best. This took a huge burden off of my shoulders and allowed me to develop a much deeper and trusting connection with my patients which leaves more room for healing.

What should our readers know about your business?
My journey to becoming an acupuncturist and hypnotherapist is a long one. I was a visual effects producer in Los Angeles on a path that many coveted. Even with the money and fancy sounding job title, I never felt like I was in the right profession. It wasn’t until my grandma spent some time in the hospital and ultimately passed away that I realized that western medicine didn’t always have the answers and I sought out alternatives, finally settling on Chinese Medicine and deciding to take the plunge in going back to school. Giving up the opportunities and salary I had was very difficult but I quickly learned that the money didn’t mean anything if I was working my life away and missing out on time with my family and friends. School was extremely difficult and I went through a lot of hurt and sleepless nights before finally stepping out on my own and opening Robb Acupuncture and Wellness.

When I added hypnotherapy to my practice I really felt like I was finally able to offer a complete package to treat both mind and body. Every day that I go into work I feel so incredibly honored that my patients chose me to guide them on their journey to well-being. I never take that responsibility for granted and I hope that my commitment to the medicine shows through in the treatments that I provide.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would probably start by going to the Desert Botanical Garden to check out some of the local flora, maybe a hike if the weather permits. A visit to a couple of the local breweries is usually on the itinerary. If there’s enough time, it’s always fun to take a trip to see the red rocks in Sedona, wine tasting in Cottonwood or to check out what’s going on in Bisbee.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A huge shoutout to my family. I gave up a very well paying job to go back to school to get my master’s degree in Chinese Medicine and always felt nothing but love and support.
