We had the good fortune of connecting with Cisco Rivera, Cody Borden, Julienne Cordero and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cisco, Cody, Julienne, what inspires you?
Cisco – Pop culture, it’s evolving, always changing, and it has a pulse. I wanna put my finger on that pulse, I want to be that guy that is always in the know.

Julienne – My inspiration comes from my connection with the pop culture community, to be able to create something wonderful and give our viewers a safe place to be themselves while also sharing in some laughs and good memories.

Cody – I was inspired by other youtubers and seeing how they try new things, connect with their communities, and have fun while doing it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We started off making custom collectible toys in Cisco’s garage. We made a video repainting Godzilla which hit over a whopping 4 million views which boosted our subscriber count exponentially and definitely drove our inspiration to make more content. Eventually we moved to doing vlogs and interviews to large scale events. One large aspect that sets us apart from other channels is we are relatable but most importanly, we’re accessible. There’s no true line between us and our viewers, any and everyone can come up and talk to us and we are more than happy to just hang out and chat or even bring viewers with us on the experience because it’s not just us that are the stars in the video, any and everyone who gets involved becomes a part of something bigger, they become an integral part of what makes this channel amazing. Our journey definitely wasn’t easy, scheduling and learning to edit was a big part of the journey. One main lesson we’ve learned is staying humble is the most important thing, it keeps all of us level headed and fun, we all have jobs so to us, this is our fun escape to be ourselves and we want our community to feel the same.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
To start if you’re looking for a great place to eat, I would highly recommend 4th avenue Deli which is right off Tucsons Iconic 4th avenue, they have sandwhichs galore, the food is great, the atmosphere is light and fun, and the prices are reasonable. Brooklyn’s pizza if you’re looking to tickle that pizza lover in you. If you’re looking to do some shopping you definitely should stop at the collectors territory right off 7th street and 4th avenue. It’s filled with many vendors and stores to satisfy all of your pop culture shopping needs, all which include Harley’s Toys and Comics, Old Pueblo Comics, Merlins Attic Toys and Collectibles, and Schaff dog comics and Happy Hour Soap. Every store caters to everyones fancy from old school comics to the latest manga and anime merchandise. If you find yourself at the Tucson mall you can definitely finish a night on the town with some toys and games at Tucson Games and Gadgets. Everything from D&D to magic the gathering it has all you need to have a fun game night including hosted trivia nights. For an added sense of flair and mystery there is a hidden speak easy at the back of the store called shortrest tavern which serves many varieties of meads and mixed drinks, there are also gaming tables with a large wall of board games that you can take into the tavern so you can have a fun night of board games and a few alcholic drinks with friends. and on the the other side of town at the park palce mall you can stop by Comet Collectibles. Whatever you’re into there’s always something available to have a good time.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First we want to thank Jason David Frank (Tommy Oliver) for inspring the idea of trying new things and pushing ourselves for the better, had it not been for his unyielding determination, we would not have taken it upon ourselves to create a youtube channel dedicated to that same creativity.

We most definitely want to thank Veronica (Ronnie) Ramirez for allowing us the many opportunities and experiences that helped us build this channel into all that it has become. Including the many events, celebrities, and patience she’s had in cultivating a thriving community while breathing life into the Tucson Pop Culture scene.

Finally we want to thank our followers, friends, and family for being so supportive and giving our channel the attention we’ve always hoped for, it is that same support that drives us to continue making content for everyone to enjoy, we are forever grateful.

We want to also thank your organization for allowing us to share our story, Shoutout Arizona!
