We had the good fortune of connecting with clayton mueller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi clayton, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have always felt like a free spirit. During my university studies, I was able to express myself without any boundary. Since graduating and working at a corporate level with photography I felt limited. Always having to be careful with my thoughts and expression, so I quit and I am pursuing freelance photography full time.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As I developed my style and skill in photography, I found myself looking to the traditional classic as seen in the high renaissance. Exploring individuality, humans connection to their environment and nature in my work. Along with self portrait work, I develop works that has queer themes in them. Usually the work references what it is like to be queer in the United States, other times its simply portraits of queer people. Finically I wouldn’t considered myself a successful professional yet (hit me up people). However, I am a successful artist. I know how to communicate my ideas visually as well as verbally. Being published in books, exhibited internationally and having people tell me they are moved by my work makes me feel like a professional. I learned that my art doesn’t always have to be for other people. Sometimes it is just for me to create, view and enjoy.
The world can know that my art isn’t for everyone and that is okay

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well its about to be blazing hot in Arizona and as of late I am a homebody so come over for some snacks and movies and we can go to my pool
