We had the good fortune of connecting with Cysen Ai and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cysen, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I worked as an tattoo artist in the beginning, I tried my best to learn and to improve my skills. I felt like that was my only priority. I used to stay late and work extra hours (sometimes for free) to get my job done properly. I used to work seven days a week just to take every opportunity I could have to be better. But that doesn’t always match a business owner’s expectations. And I totally understand that part it’s different when you are running a business you have bills to pay. So It was my intention to find a balance in between and I believed that I would be able to achieve that, which is providing a high level service.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve been drawing and painting since 4 years old, Art has always been a part of my life. My business is owned and running by true artists. We train artists with our passion and profession.
To me , It was never a job, It’s always been my hobby. I go to the studio everyday and excited to meet new clients and new projects, I share that passion with the artists I work with.
It was never a easy path, I’m a self taught tattoo artist, thanks to the training I had since a young age. I pick up things quick, I’m a quick learner. But still I had to face a lot of difficulties, I turned all the failures into experiences, and achieved the goals I set for myself. Things become crystal clear when quitting isn’t an option, being humble and patient is the best way to get to where you want to be .

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Toronto is a big city, I would suggest spending some time in downtown area The Entertainment District ,around King Street West between Yonge street and Spadina Avenue.
It is home to theatres and performing arts centres, arena and family attractions.
You can also find tons of the nightclubs and restaurants in this area.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout to my friend / partner Daniel from Mithra Tattoo Supplies. I want to thank him for all the support he has provided for the past 10 years. I’m really grateful that we have met
