We had the good fortune of connecting with Dana Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dana, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My agency focuses on servicing brands that have a social impact mission or division. We help them partner with organizations, influencers and celebrity foundations that are carrying out aligned programs in diverse communities. That looks like scholarships and educational programs, workforce development, food bank support…all kinds of multi-generational community engagement. Great brands do not treat consumers as transactions — they invest in ways to give back to their audience in an impactful way. Years ago I set the intention to do meaningful work and it has manifested itself throughout my business, creative projects and personal life.

What should our readers know about your business?
I have a boutique PR shop called Concrete Runway. We’re a media relations agency that bridges the gap between corporations and communities with successful multicultural campaigns that honor community and bring real stories to life. Our relationships get brands into spaces, places, and in front of faces that expand their impact and transform the world. That’s what sets us apart from other traditional PR agencies–anyone can use the tools and their writing skills to pitch media outlets and land a story. We build narratives that start with the social impact a brand can have on the ground to connect with their audience.
This isn’t where we started…my business has evolved over the years from a one-woman show, producing brand activations and events–even independent films. But as I consulted at big ad agencies and developed, the focus shifted. I rolled with the needs of a niche client base and honored my desire to do more meaningful work.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m all about enjoying the sunshine, eating well and chilling. Some of my go-tos: Tierra Luna Spa at Arizona Biltmore for clean, nourishing treatments and their calming zen garden, happy hour at Buck & Rider or a Mediterranean meal with a view at thea, brunch at Sugar Jam Kitchen, sunset photos at McDowell Sonoran Reserve, Uptown Farmers Market.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family is EVERYTHING. I give them so much credit for allowing me to explore my creativity, supporting my non-linear journey and being amazing examples. I do not take for granted what a blessing it is to have been surrounded by openly loving people who always show up for others.
