Meet Daniel Tassone

We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Tassone and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daniel, what do you attribute your success to?
We believe that providing healthy, vibrant cacti and succulents is essential. We meticulously source our plants, ensuring they are of the highest quality, and they are kept in that condition for the remainder of time in our care. Our cultivation practices prioritize the well-being of each plant, resulting in specimens that thrive in our customers’ homes and gardens.
However, even the finest plants won’t flourish without the right guidance. That’s where our customer service comes in. We strive to create a welcoming and informative environment where every customer feels valued. Our knowledgeable staff is passionate about cacti and succulents, and we’re dedicated to providing expert advice on everything from selection and care to troubleshooting common issues. We take the time to understand each customer’s needs, offering tailored recommendations and fostering a long-term relationship.
Ultimately, we believe that the combination of top-tier plant quality and genuine, attentive customer service is what sets us apart and drives our brand’s success. We’re not just selling plants; we’re building a community of passionate growers, and we’re committed to supporting them every step of the way.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We’ve transformed three acres into a captivating destination, a place of discovery and wonder. Stroll through our bird and pollinator friendly gardens, find peace by our koi pond (and delight in feeding the fish and turtle!), and browse an extensive array of plants, handcrafted pottery, and distinctive yard art. More than just a place to shop, we offer an experience. We’re incredibly proud of the tranquil oasis we’ve created, a place where people can connect with the natural beauty of the surrounding desert.
How did we overcome these challenges? Perseverance, for one. We’ve spent countless hours researching, networking, and learning from experienced growers. I also learned to be adaptable and resourceful, finding creative solutions to problems as they arose.
Ultimately, it’s the joy of sharing our passion for cacti with others that makes it all worthwhile. Seeing a customer’s face light up when they find the perfect plant, or hearing about their success in growing a challenging species – that’s what makes this business so rewarding.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Definitely hiking in Sabino Canyon. The trails, varying in difficulty and length, offer a diverse range of experiences. Some paths wind through shaded riparian areas, where the air is cool and fragrant with the scent of desert willow and mesquite. Others climb to higher elevations, rewarding hikers with panoramic vistas of the canyon’s vast expanse. Sabino Canyon offers something for everyone. It’s a place where you can discover the beauty and resilience of the desert.
For the perfect end to a day we recommend our neighbor Cheeseburgers and Beer. It’s more than just good food; it’s the atmosphere. It’s the ideal place to unwind and enjoy good company. And if you’re looking for authentic Mexican cuisine, we recommend our other fantastic neighbor, Guadalajara. Whether you’re in the mood for sizzling fajitas, freshly made guacamole, or a delicious margarita, Guadalajara delivers an experience that’s both satisfying and memorable.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely. In the spirit of recognizing the support that’s been integral to my (our) journey, I’d like to dedicate a shoutout to Dan Bach.
Dan’s influence, particularly his emphasis on the importance of having a deep understanding of the plants themselves, has been invaluable. His teachings went beyond just practical cultivation; he stressed the importance of observing, learning, and truly understanding the needs of each species with love and genuine enthusiasm.
