We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Petty and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
It was an act of sheer rebellion! Seriously, as the great Tom Peters once said, “Only pissed off people change the world.” When I led teams in the Google Ads Department for several years, my role allowed me to work with hundreds of other marketing agencies across the country. I taught them how to properly manage Google Ads accounts and drive positive results for their clients. But it was outrageous to see how many agencies didn’t care about how to improve account performance or how to maximize results. Many simply wanted to cash the check. It was especially infuriating when I would share suggestions on how to optimize campaign performance, and was told, “Well, the client hasn’t complained, so it’s fine as it is.” These agencies were willfully keeping clients in the dark — either through incompetence, where they simply couldn’t provide ad budget analytics and insights, or through negligence, where they chose not to. Either way, they were leaving clients uninformed about the effectiveness of their ad budgets. After seeing this happen again and again, I had had enough. And so I left Google with the idea of starting a new agency. And I connected with other like-minded rebels, who agreed to join forces and stand against what we call “marketing-as-usual.” And with that spirit of rebellion in our hearts, we built a company dedicated to showing and telling, an agency that shares complete performance analytics with transparency, clarity, and accuracy. A true marketing partner that leverages all data to develop market-moving strategies, actionable insights, and performance-driven campaigns. Put it all on the screen, so our clients can see the results of the work, track competitive growth, better understand what customers are thinking, and better monitor where their ad budget is going. We were putting it all “on the radar” – and that’s how we named the agency: Digital Radar. It takes a rebellious spirit to bring change in any industry But we say that we’re responsibly rebellious — because we take seriously our responsibility to show our clients how their campaigns are doing, how to adjust their budget to maximize effectiveness. Same goal, but a better way: To give clients phenomenal results, and form lasting partnerships, by giving them the peace of mind of knowing where their marketing dollars are going.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When I have family or friends come to town, I always make sure we get a chance to explore Roosevelt Row (ideally on First Friday), there are some of my favorite spots to eat, such as SoSoBa Phoenix where I’ll enjoy ramen and their drunken dumplings… as well as JoBot Coffee & Bar where they have a killer cold brewed coffee and amazing crepes! In addition, Telegraph Pass trail is always on the agenda for a beautiful outdoor adventure through Ahwatukee. Tempe Town Lake is a great spot to walk around as well, with easy access to some great places to eat on Mill Avenue. My forever favorite, Fuzzy’s Tacos will never disappoint! Another favorite in Tempe would be Culinary Dropout for food, drinks and game.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to dedicate my shoutout to my amazing team here at Digital Radar. I have been fortunate enough to work with some of the most talented individuals, all sharing the same passion and drive for success. It has been the dedication and hard work of our amazing team members that has brought us to where we are today.
