We had the good fortune of connecting with Dannie Redondo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dannie, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Many business owners measure success by their profits. Although making money is very important, especially in the beginning when you are trying to build and grow. Most entrepreneurs quickly realize there is a lot more to measuring success.
When a business relies heavily on creativity, one can easily suffer from burnout if you are not constantly refilling the “empty cup”. Keeping a healthy balance between work and time off can be tough. My husband and I often work 17 hour days. Not only is it important to take time off, it is equally important to be mindful of how you choose to spend your time off. Running errands and doing chores are always going to be necessary. Taking trips, spending time with family, eating good food and breaking the daily routine are ways that I try to refuel.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We are so grateful for our customers. It’s because of them that my husband was able to leave his job to come and work full time on our food truck. I could not ask for a better partner. The work he does is immeasurable. I also feel so lucky to spend my work days with my husband. He works just as hard as I do to make sure our business is successful.
One of the reasons I feel that our food truck has been successful is because we put so much time and effort into every fresh ingredient. We make breakfast, lunch and dinner. Not many truck make all three. Our menu changes often but we always keep our gourmet burgers and Southern fried chicken sandwiches no matter what. If you haven’t tried our food yet, please look us up @littlefarmfoodtruck on instagram. We are also on Facebook.
My husband and I are both extremely passionate about food and farming. We’ve been growing fruits and vegetables for years on our own small farm as well as raising hens and collecting eggs. We are currently looking to buy a much larger farm property so that we can grow more. We also bought a food trailer to work in addition to our truck. We have a lot of new ideas brewing and are working to make them happen.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting, there are a few local places I would definitely take her. I love the gourmet soda at Soda bomb in Goodyear. If she wanted to go dancing I would take her to Waddells Longhorn Corral. As for eating, we would probably spend a lot of time eating on the farm. I’m learning to perfect the perfect sourdough pizza crust to be cooked in our outdoor pizza oven. We would enjoy warm cider cocktails around a fire pit. There is nothing like food and community to be enjoyed outdoors in the fresh air when the weather allows.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would not be where I am today without the love and support of my brother. He Is an aerospace engineer by day, and now somewhat of a food truck specialist by night. I cannot tell you how many times -with only a moment’s notice- he has come to my rescue. I live in Goodyear, he lives in Gilbert. He has driven out to my truck so many times to fix what is broken. Sometimes it’s just to fix my broken spirit. He has often kept me on track and helped me to focus on what needs to be done, even when I’m upset and frustrated. He always makes the problems sound like no big deal. I will never be able to repay what he has done for me. His constant love, support and encouragement have helped me to achieve my dream.
