We had the good fortune of connecting with Darcy Easley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Darcy, what’s the most difficult decision you’ve ever had to make?
The two most difficult decisions I have made in life is changing directions in my career as a therapist. I began working in residential treatment and when it was recommended that I transition to outpatient therapy, I was afraid that I would not be able to make the move. I took a leap of faith and built a program that tripled in size and became more successful. The second has been to transition from agency work to private practice. Again, I was worried about my ability to make the shift, but it has been rewarding and eye-opening. It has reminded me what I am capable of, and I hope to continue to build and make space for clients who need help.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I provide individual, couples, family and group counseling. During my time as a therapist, I have developed a passion to help clients who are on the autism spectrum or other neurodiverse issues. I am most proud of my ability to work with a variety of people with a variety of needs and to meet them where they are at. I work incredibly hard to build rapport and trust with my clients as I believe that is most important in a therapeutic relationship. I have gotten to this place in my career by surrounding myself with people that support and encourage me. I have overcome challenges by processing difficult times instead of avoiding them. One of the biggest lessons I have learned is to trust myself. I have to believe in myself as much, if not more, than the people who are cheering me on. I want the world to know that doing therapy is my greatest passion in life. I knew at a very early age this is what I wanted to do and I believe I was placed on Earth to help others.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a huge sports fan and feel Phoenix has some of the best, so I always try to incorporate a sporting event into a trip. We have some of the most amazing fans and it’s always a great time. I love the variety of restaurants we have. You can get great food at any price and satisfy everyone’s needs. I always do staycations. The resorts here are incredible and allow time for relaxation and fun.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My biggest shoutout goes to Minon Maier. She was my Clinical Supervisor while I was obtaining my independent license. She was consistent and encouraging. She met me where I was at in life and career, but also provided a gentle nudge if I ever questioned my ability to try something new. She was instrumental in my transition into private practice. She has provided the most amazing guidance and support, and I would not be here without her unwavering support and grace.
