We had the good fortune of connecting with David Lundberg and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi David, how do you think about risk?
Risk is an essential aspect of life. I take risks after considering the facts of a situation and/or the experience of others. Taking risks has certainly played a role in my life, and I have either learned from mistakes or been pleasantly surprised by success.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Our music is based on our life experiences. We are inspired by many genres and styles of music that also influence the resulting sound. It has not been easy to get to where we are today. Our first album, “Marie Rivera,” was written in 2014, recorded in both 2015 and 2017, and then released in 2023. Through that period, there were many ups and downs for the band, as well as multiple periods of inactivity. I would say the greatest lesson was in perseverance and patience. We never lost sight of what we wanted, and we made it through.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The best places in Tucson are out in the desert. The Sonoran Desert is an amazing experience and is full of beautiful plants and animals. Just make sure to bring water. The nightlife in Tucson is incredible as well; we enjoy hanging out on 4th Avenue, as well as Congress and Toole. There is music, food, and drinks on all of those streets. The best food experience is definitely Sonoran dogs (mostly sold from food trucks).
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to recognize my twin brother, Tony Lundberg, who is also a co-founder of Neutral Terrain. We may be twins, but we certainly have different ways of viewing the world. He adds a unique style to Neutral Terrain, and I couldn’t run the band without him.
