We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaevonn Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaevonn, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
That’s easy the answer is to never give up! For myself, these last couple months have been hard for myself, I lost my grandfather, I failed the bar by only a couple of points, and I was in dry spell with my business. But the key is to have a strong spiritual foundation and have confidence in yourself to achieve what you set forward to do.

Constantly praying and working I saw my life shift back in my favor, of course I didn’t get my granddad back but I’m living in peace knowing he was proud of me and always believed in me so it allows me to keep striving for better everyday.

And I mean every single day!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My website gettothecorner.com is all about art in all its forms. I’m not a one dimensional person so I did my best to create a business reflective of myself. I also drew big inspiration from Complex Magazine, they covered a range of topics in media and I wanted to do so as well. So with THE CORNER®, I have the merchandise that is the home of my brand, WELÇOME©: HAND DRAWN GRAPHICS, which features hand drawn designs by me on quality ready-to-wear garments. I have BEHINDTHEPEN, which features behind the scenes drawing videos from me and interviews with other visual artists/creatives. Then you have FRESHTHOUGHTS2020, which is the blog porition of my website that features essays I call “LIFE LOGS” which are daily lessons from my life composed into essay format.

Starting this site was a simple process but maintaining it is a different story. It takes extreme passion to keep something like this running. You may put your all into an article that no one read or may create what you thought was the hottest piece of merch and it get low sales. So having a business passion has to be first before the money, because the money doesn’t come overnight. Plus who wants to do something solely for the money all the time, that’s draining.if you ask me. I genuinely love THE CORNER® it gives me a sense of self-worth and purpose.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
No favorites let’s just go wherever the sweets are.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shout to my family, girlfriend, and friends. Each of them supported me emotionally and financially in chasing in my dreams and for that I am forever grateful. Special s/o to my Granddad.
