We had the good fortune of connecting with Debbie Hart and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Debbie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started my own business because I wanted to educate business owners on how to improve their customer experience while increasing revenue.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
When I started my mystery shopping business, I found that many business owners didn’t want to talk about this topic for 2 major reasons, 1) They think they are on track (2 They don’t want to invest in a customer experience program. This is where I have to educate them on the importance of giving them a customer’s perspective and how that is an investment, not a cost. At The Hart Experience, I work directly with my clients, with no middleman. We are different because we provide customized shop reports and quality shoppers. I am always excited to help business owners get better reviews and increase revenue. I have learned that every client is different, some are family-owned businesses, and some are corporate, so budgets are different. I have to adapt my shop programs to the individual owner. My experience in the hospitality industry has helped me build my brand into a trusting business that teaches owners and managers the importance of how to continually strive for happy and returning customers.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I think there is some beautiful scenery in Sedona and the Grand Canyon. There are shops in Sedona to check out, hikes in Oak Creek Canyon, and a little farther away is the beautiful Grand Canyon where you can walk on a glass walkway that oversees the whole canyon. There are beautiful resorts to check out in Sedona where you can hang out at the spas, pools, and restaurants.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Much of my success has been attributed to customer experience articles I have read by specialists in the field such as Shep Hyken, Steve DiGioia, and Jay Baer. I also hosted a National Networking Group called Shakers & Stirrers in Scottsdale, Arizona at the start of my business. This group helped me meet more connections and keep me moving forward.
