We had the good fortune of connecting with Devilz Playground and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Devilz, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I have come to learn that many factors come into play when it comes to being successful. I have to say my top 3 are; having a support system, having faith and never giving up. I started to surround myself with people who are the same vibrational frequency as I am. Letting go of toxic behaviors and welcoming positive energy and thinking have made a huge impact on my musical career. It has open new doors and contribute on the success of my music brand. As humans we need to have a faith, whether it’s God, the Universe or something out there that we don’t fully understand but when we think about it, it brings us peace and the strength to keep going and not give up when all seems to fail. I am grateful for my family and friends who are my biggest cheerleaders in this tough industry.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been doing music for a while and I had stopped because life got in the way and sometimes you forget how much you love doing a certain thing until the opportunity comes back knocking at your door. After a long hiatus, I stepped foot at a recording studio and it was as if a day hadn’t gone by. I got back into the music scene and I am proud to say I have evolved so much as an artist. My musical content is all about bringing a message to those who listen. I want people to be able to relate to the stories I tell through my music. And of course with growth comes new opportunities. I am so excited that Empire is now distributing my music and starting December 27th I am going to start releasing all new music so be on the look out for Devilz Playground.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Let’s start by one of the best eating spots because hello, I’m a foodie! So there is this amazing little place with it’s beautiful and colorful murals representing Mexican/Arizonian culture called Barrio Cafe, located on 16th St and Thomas Rd. Think of Mexico City gourmet cuisine, with their mouth watering Cochinita Pibil which is pork marinated in sour orange and spices wrapped in banana leaf along with a delicious and refreshing home made style Horchata. To help digest that bomb lunch, we will go on a nice leisure walk to South Mountain and drive up to the antenna towers and soak in the breath taking view of the whole city as we enjoy the distinctive smell of our desert. Next, we can forget about dinner. You want to have the best Puertorican food in town? We are going to Phoenix Coqui, the #1 Puertorican restaurant in AZ, located on 15th Ave and Indian School Rd. The shrimp ‘mofongo’ is to die for! Made out of plantain layered with juicy shrimp all over it, warm white rice on the side and a nice cold glass of passion fruit juice.
We then finish the evening by going to one of my favorite bars in town, Stacey’s at Melrose. You will meet the most exciting and friendly people on Wednesday’s industrial night. The moment you walk in you feel as if you are inside an old castle with a chandelier in the center of the dance floor. You get to experience how people are able to be themselves in a safe environment while having fun!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out my mom for letting me be me and not trying to change me to fit society’s standards. My wife for being my most honest critic of my music and supporting me with all musical projects. I want to thank all of my family, friends and fans for believing in me and being part of this incredible journey that has just begun. I want to give a special shout out to all of the incredible artists I have had the pleasure of creating music with. My dad who passed away due to a drug over dose, the song ‘Struggle’ is dedicated to him and all those who are affected by drug abuse, it will launch on all platforms on December 27th; my birthday.
