We had the good fortune of connecting with Edgar Vargas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Edgar, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have always considered that the impact that a person can generate in society with an entrepreneurial impulse will be greater than that achieved by being an employee of an institution or company since being an entrepreneur will always push you to do things and being an employee will not.

What should our readers know about your business?
My private practice as a plastic surgeon focuses on giving personalized attention to patients, giving a human touch as its main characteristic. There is no other plastic surgeon in the region who treats his patients the way my team and I do. My patients become like my family. The process of being a HUMANIZED plastic surgeon has been building itself over a long period of time taking care of each and everyone of the patients I have treated. In Mexico, providing aesthetic surgery services is difficult since many patients look for cheap treatments which many times are provided by non-licenced doctors who perform plastic surgery procedures taking advantage of the ignorance of many people. I have learned that part of being an influencing doctor is to educate people about plastic surgery that it is not how much you can pay for a procedure but to understand that sometimes there are many reasons YOU SHOULD NOT get a procedure no matter how much money you can pay for it.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are certainly many people to whom I owe the inspiration to be an entrepreneur in the field of plastic surgery. Virtually to whom I owe my inspiration are many of my mentors during my training as a plastic surgeon. In Mexico, the plastic surgeon who works in a public hospital is rarely recognized or valued, which is why undertaking as an independent surgeon is the goal of most of us who practice this specialty.
