We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth (Izzy) Shreves and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elizabeth (Izzy), what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
At first I didn’t. I was scared to be an “artist” since I was always told they don’t make any money. After working an office job for about 8 years in total, I finally made a change.

In 2018 I made a growth chart for my friend who was having twins so we could see how different or similar they grow over time. Then my best friend and husband got me a Cricut Maker for my birthday and it was on haha. I started making stencils and posted a “stuck at home” sale in 2019 on Facebook. Then I was making growth charts and other small crafts left and right. So here we are today.,I’m a stay at home mom trying to get back in tune with my creative side. I do vendor events and sell mostly on Instagram and Facebook..i by no means make a ton of money. But this type of money earned hits different than the 9-5 money. That is why I am going to continue to pursue this creative journey! I hope to make many more charts and hand painted logos for businesses.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My favorite part about making growth charts is the custom orders! Sometimes it’s all stencils but a lot of the time I get to hand paint in flowers or details. I’ve definitely learned that practice makes progress.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would probably take them to a vendor event, definitely hit some food trucks and hope there a good sunset or two while they are in town! The murals around town would be fun to show off as well.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shout out to my husband for working so hard for us so I am able to do what I do. Also, my mom for watching our little so I can have time to work without having to stop every few minutes, if you know you know haha. I really don’t think I would have spent the money on a Cricut Maker for myself so thanks to my husband and best friend for buying me one. That is really where it all started.
