We had the good fortune of connecting with Derick Vogel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Derick, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
Showing up! It is important to be there for them and do our best in showing our children what good habits are. I believe raising our children with a Christ centered mindset and heart is important too. Regardless of believing in God or Jesus, what Christ embodies and exemplifies through love, compassion, morals, and ethics gives us a strong foundation. This helps our children become aware of and understanding some of the most important aspects of life. Love, forgiveness, humility, gratitude, helping the sick and poor just to name a few. I see many parents and children on their phones having minimal or no interaction during the moments when it is most important. It hurts to see the lack of connection. Just going outside and hiking, playing in the park or a walk is extremely powerful. I also make it a priority to share educational books with our kids which include self-development and spirituality to assist with their inner development and emotional intelligence. As parents there is a tendency to try and control our children and in doing so, I believe we miss the mark by not letting them explore and figure things out on their own. Not to mention we project our own nonsense, generational programming, and bad habits on them. It is hard to accept the truth that sometimes we are doing the opposite of helping them by pushing our beliefs on them. It is always tricky when we start pushing the lies, we tell ourselves that we believe are the truths which they are not. Having open communication with our children is extremely important and not sheltering them from everything. It is alright they experience failure, get hurt, get angry or lose a loved one. This is all part of this blessing called life. They need to experience their emotions, so they learn how to manage them in a healthy way as they grow. Not everyone wins trophies all the time like society teaches today. Teaching your children by example is always the best. Letting them see you fail and win. This will show them how you overcome different obstacles and celebrate your wins. Take ownership for your mistakes, do not make excuses, or blame others when things do not work out like you had hoped or intended. I was raised in the Midwest and have what we call Midwest values. I have learned over the years to stop talking so much and listen, be present and do my best to make all situations a win for everyone. I feel we just need to slow down a little bit and pray or meditate while being thankful for the many blessings that are bestowed upon us from above. When was the last time you took inventory of all the blessings in your life? I make it a point to do this frequently and I find my focus shifts to what is truly most important.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We focus on giving people a second chance. Through education, we give people a second chance to improve their credit health, habits and knowledge while building a sound financial future. We strive to create a future where people understand the impact circumstances have on their credit. Knowledge isn’t power, but through applying knowledge and sharing it with those they love, our clients change the future for generations to come. The biggest difference in what we do verses our competitors is that we teach and mentor. We build personal relations with our clients. They do not just speak to a call center. Building trust takes time and results always speak for themselves. Actions versus words! Nothing worth something is ever easy. You have to fail to learn and grow. I’m grateful I had the support and guidance I needed to overcome the obstacles of entrepreneurship.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Thats easy Sedona. It’s one of the most beautiful places on this earth. Westfork trail is one of my favorite hiking spots ever. In the secret mountains they call it. The energy and experience is breathtaking. Follows a river and has white sandy beaches. If your up for adrenaline rush go to eloy, AZ. The largest skydiving facility in the world. That’s correct in the world. Absolutely amazing. Food ahhhh thats a hard one because there are so many. Craft 64 has some of the best pizza and beer you can find. All fresh made and local organic ingredients. Cafe Monarch could be one of the best dining experiences and food I’ve ever had.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank Brandon Pride @ brandonpride.com. It has been over 8 years since we met and embarked upon this journey of life and entrepreneurship. I’ll never forget the first time we met, I was just looking for guidance in building my website for the company. I literally knew nothing about business but Brandon saw the drive in me and I’m happy he took me on as a client. Little did he know he would be taking on a lifelong business partner and more importantly a lifelong friend. Without Brandon’s guidance and mentorship, I would not be where I am at today. With over eight years in the credit repair and education business, the company has grown every year except one. Credit Absolute has earned some of the highest awards including best credit repair company in Arizona today and top rated online reviews. It’s important to have a circle of like minded individuals that are focused on your growth versus what’s in it for them. This falls back on the spiritual aspect and responsibility of being a leader and mentor. Here are some of the core values that come from Christ’s teachings that transcend into everything we do in life: freedom, selflessness, awareness, unconditional love, gratitude, patience, service, faithfulness, clarity, silence, compassion, and forgiveness. The core values mentioned above come from the book, ‘The Law of Light’ by Lars Muhl. It is one of the many books recommended to me by Brandon. I am sharing this because it’s extremely powerful to understand what it is to live in the truth in everything we do. By living these little things you will always be happy and successful no matter what you do. I am very blessed, grateful and thankful Brandon has come into my life.
