We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elizabeth, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Already picking art as my career is risky enough but being fired from my last job at age 19, I honestly didn’t have much to lose. It was because my mom told me to “jump in the lake” that I had the realization that I can take my life in my own hands then opened my business that day. In life you’re going to have to take risks otherwise you won’t know how far you’ll be able to go. So next time when you’re faced with something like changing ~ try jumping in the lake.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My brother is a big influence for me and the reason why I grew up as the nerdy gamer girl. He’s the one that showed me everything between the anime Dragon Ball Z to video games like Halo (my personal fave). That has in turn influenced what I create today which is ‘anime inspired’ art.

Becoming an artist was definitely not easy. I was told to “pick a realistic career” many times in my life by adults. However my peers/teachers I was close with knew I had something to contribute with my art just didn’t know how. It wasn’t until social media came that really amped my work to the next level. It was just easier to discover people. Also now the new form of media of using short videos to create art content I really saw growth!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In the cold tundra of Fargo, ND there’s some pretty fun things to do! When my friends come visit I always take them for breakfast at BernBaums. They have an amazing Lavender Latte and all different kinds of bagel foods. Definitely take them to the Square located downtown where there’s some fun outside activities depending on the season. I’d then have us go shopping at the boutiques like Carmine & Hayworth Vintage, Ninja Skate, and top off the afternoon with some cider at Wild Terra. All very cute places! For the evening time if you really want to party we have several bars/clubs that are down the strip of Broadway. Soon they’ll be opening a indoor water park where I will definitely be showing up!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There have been many people in my life that have lifted me up and guided me through the process of becoming a full time artist. However there’s no one who really impacted a pivotal moment in my life and continuously supported me than my own mother. I never once considered owning a business, I just knew I wanted to do art as my career. It was because my mom background of owning her own business that gave me the courage that I can do this too. She now helps me out with production of my products and plays a big part at shows I do around the midwest.
