We had the good fortune of connecting with Erika Rojas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erika, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The start of my business was unexpected, I never thought I would become an entrepreneur, I did not feel capable of running a business. However, a friend encouraged me to do it, and in 2004 I registered my business ER GRAPHIC SOLUTIONS
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I love my work, I enjoy seeing the success of other businesses and knowing that I am being part of their history by helping them with design and marketing. It has been a long learning path, where the most important thing was learning to value my work so that others could appreciate it too, I understood that this concept is key.
I also understood that not everyone can be my client, being selective with the type of clients that I have allowed into my life has been key to my success, and I came to this conclusion when I understood that there will always be clients who appreciate and value what I give them. I can offer, while you will open others that I cannot, then that is when I must choose the best for myself and my business. I just published a book based on these experiences called “Soulmate Clients”, in it I collect my experiences of 18 years in the business.
I always worked from home and people didn’t understand what I was doing, sometimes they told me to find a “real job” after the pandemic working from home became common and now people know that one can work at home.
I am grateful for the people and clients who believed in me, thanks to them I am here today.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It has been key to surround myself with successful people who have inspired me and have been my mentors. One of them, Ada Batún, founder of the organization MACH (Active Women in Hispanic Commerce), who always encouraged me to follow my dreams and continue with my business even in the most difficult situations.
