We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin Borbet and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erin, how does your business help the community?
I am a Clinical Acupuncturist, Herbalist, Distance Energy Healer and Intuitive Life Coach. I have a clinical practice in my small home-town of Victor, ID, and work remotely with folks from all over via zoom – many Arizonians! In fact, one of my botanical partners is based in Phoenix, which allows me to make semi-frequent trips down and even meet some of my distance clients in person. What a treat!
I help people regain their health and vitality – this of course includes symptom resolution but also something more nuanced and profound. My clients consistently report feeling a return to self – a revitalization for life and their participation in it, as well as a deeper connection to their inner compass. The resiliency and innate healing capacity of the human body is astounding, and brings me to my knees almost daily. The self-reclamation my clients experience ripples outward – changing the frequency of their workplaces, communities, homes. This level of change is what gets me out of bed in the morning and why I’ve been in the healing field for over three decades now. It is an honor and a privilege to serve humanity in this way, one client at a time.
What should our readers know about your business?
My first exposure to Traditional Chinese Medicine (“TCM” – which includes herbs and acupuncture) was during a 13-month rotation at a TCM Hospital in Hangzhou, China, From there, I was hooked. I completed my undergrad in traditional healing methods – including my time in China as well as studying Shamanism in Peru, Midwifery and Women’s Health in Costa Rica and Nicaragua and Tibetan Medicine in Lhasa Tibet – and embarked on pursuing my 4-year Masters of Science Degree in Chinese Medicine from Pacific College in San Diego.
Upon completing my degree, I was living in New York city and offered an immense opportunity to open my private practice in a beautiful clinical space on East 40th Street. I specialized in female endocrine imbalance, and built a reputation for helping women through various phases of hormonal transition such as menstrual imbalance, fertility struggles, peri-natal, post partum and menopause. I ran a busy clinic with multiple practitioners in the heart of NYC for 8 years. While my work these days spans a broader scope of symptom-resolution, I carry this expertise with me.
After the birth of our second child, my husband and I decided to relocate our family to a quieter place – the Teton Mountain range was calling and we ended up in the town of Victor, ID. During this transition, I took a two year sabbatical from clinical work and honed my intuitive life coaching practice.
In 2018, I re-opened my clinical acupuncture practice part-time in our town and to this day I am the only acupuncturist in Victor!
I still offer my Distance Healing Sessions several days per week, in addition to my in-person practice – and I truly enjoy the balance these two ways of working with clients support me. Through distance work, I get to work with people all over the place and I have the opportunity to hone my distance healing service – and this is very exciting.
During the initial phase of the pandemic, I made the decision to train with a Shamanic healer and form my own for of distance energy healing that works with the five elements, meridian and point systems in acupuncture. Over the course of two years, countless meditation practices, work with my spirit guides and counsel from her – I began to formulate a system that yields similar energetic shifts of an acupuncture session without needles. Better yet, this can be done both in-person and from a distance.
As someone rooted in “seeing is believing”, this unseen modality was a hard concept for me to breakthrough. But the results speak for themselves – reversing full body rashes and animal allergies, easing emotional symptoms, sleep disturbances and aches and pains. There really is no limit to what the body can do when given the right nudge.
I’ve witnessed the healing power of acupuncture on my table countless times, but it’s the innate healing power of the body that brings me to my knees. Just clear a path, and your body will do the rest. I now devote my practice (in person and online) to help my clients clear that path for vibrant health within their own physiology, offering individualized and natural solutions alongside (or in place of) other medical interventions.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh that’s a fun question! I’d take them to breakfast at Wanderlust Cafe, lunch at Big Hole BBQ and Dinner at the Knotty Pine Supper Club. If its a hot summer day, we’d have Huckleberry Milkshakes at the Emporium, and if it is snowy we’d go for a Sleigh Ride at the Bronze Buffalo Sporting Club and then have cocktails and appetizers around a Cowboy Cauldron open fire. If we needed some relaxation I’d take us to the Spa at Bronze Buffalo Sporting Club for a Hydrofacial and pedicure and use their Eucalyptus Steam Room for a luxurious afternoon. The best espresso in Victor is at French Press Coffee house, so we’d definitely head there if we needed a pick me up.
When I’m in Arizona, I love eating at the Mission in Scottsdale and purchasing all sorts of divine Flower-Essence products at LotusWei headquarters in Phoenix. I also make sure to pop into Citrine Beauty for essential skincare products and their bi-monthly glam bag!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t be where I am without the following mentors:
Dr. Zhuoling Ren of the China Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in Minneapolis MN – who first introduced me to the world of Acupuncture and TCM. I ran her herbal pharmacy and front desk at her clinic before getting my Masters Degree in TCM.
Mike Berkley of The Berkley Center for Reproductive Wellness in New York, NY – he mentored me in women’s hormonal health and helped me build my first private practice right in the heart of Manhattan. With his guidance and beautiful office space, I grew my practice from just me to a multi-practitioner clinic.
Kate Crow – Life Coach at Katecrow.com – has helped me through countless growth edges in my professional and personal career. I credit my ability to pay of 100K in medical school loans in two years to my work with Kate.
Jason Borbet – artist and beloved husband who is my constant source of inspiration, advice and grounding support.
