We had the good fortune of connecting with Estefania Saavedra and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Estefania, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
It’s time consuming! If you let it, social media can take over your life! Managing your time is key when it comes to social media. Many think that we just record and post a video online, but what people don’t see is that it takes time coming up with a concept, shooting and reshooting until we get it right (at least i do, I’m a perfectionist, haha) and editing. It can take from 5 minutes to a few hours in recording and uploading a video. Engagement is very important as well. It also takes time getting back to DM’s and comments especially if want to create a connection with your followers. I’ve heard many people say that you have to have tough skin to be a content creator. I agree to a certain level because, people can be really negative and can bring you down. I try to remember that no matter what you do, someone will have something to say, So I focus mostly on the positive things.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Im a jack of all trades you could say. I love to sing, dance, act, i love everything with beauty, but the one that i enjoy the most is making people laugh. I always saw myself as a goof ball but never thought I could actually be funny. When covid hit and I started doing my videos, I never intended to go viral or do this as my full time job. I was doing it for myself and at the time I was going through a lot of anxiety so making people laugh and entertaining felt so good. When people started messaging me saying that my videos made their day, I realized that it wasn’t only helping me, but helping others, especially at such a hard time in 2020. When i started getting more attention, I felt nervous because there were extra eyes on me now. I felt pressure so I almost gave up and didn’t want to do this anymore. My husband spoke to me and asked, does this make you happy? I said yes. Does it make other people happy, i said yes. Then thats what you have to focus on, he replied. It was what i needed to hear. This was scary for me but there are things in life that will bring out fear, but without fear, there would be no courage. I was courageous that day and i’m glad i continued because these past 3 years have opened doors that I never thought could be opened before.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well not to brag but i live close to one of the most happiest places on earth, Disney World! Whether i’m 35 or 72 years old, i could never get sick of Disney! We would start our days in one of the 4 main parks and I believe I would leave Magic Kingdom for last because the castle is so iconic. Then, head to Disney Springs in the evening because they have some of the best dining experiences and of course we would do all of our shopping there! One of my other favorite places to go is Lake Eola. It is in the heart of Downtown Orlando with a beautiful lake and fountain. They have a walking path and its so relaxing. Puerto Rican food is a big deal here. The food is to die for! One of my favorite spots is Grillers PR, with their one of a kind mofongo and boricua sushi! Whoever visits, I’m pretty sure they would never wanna go back!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shout out to my girl Jenny Solares. (@es_jenny_solares) When Shoutout Arizona reached out to me, she is the first person to pop in my head because she lived in Arizona for a good part of her life. Not only is she one of the first people I met when I started content creation, she has become one of my great friends. I look up to her because she hustles hard and is very passionate at what she does. When i feel lost or have a question about anything, she shares insights and advice and when we get together, we create some awesome content! Shoutout to you homie!
