We had the good fortune of connecting with gerry watkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi gerry, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
Persistence is the key, so one should never give up

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As I look back it was easy though it took a lot of hard work. It was easy because I choose career paths that I am very passionate about.

At 19 I became a drug and alcohol counselor in the air force for six years. This job and the air force prepared me for the discipline and desire to understand people for me future careers.

At 25 I pursued a career as a hairdresser, which I had started at age 12. I was a bootleg barber from 12 to age 19. I went on to become a salon owner with a international company (TONI&GUY) until 2014. I currently still own a salon with my four sons who are also hairdressers.

At 57 I decided to start coaching Business owners, Leaders and Sales Professionals in the area of Mindset, Leadership and sales. Though I didn’t think I could love anything more than hair, I was wrong. Coaching, training and speaking are my greatest passion. Help people figure out the nesseccary change to win drives me the most.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d start the day with shrimp and grits at my favorite breakfast spot… Snooze… For dinner go to my favorite dinner spot called Baby kay’s Cajun food… and end
the evening partying at a dive club called Char’s, because the live music is great.

On the weekend we’ll switch gears and do a day trip to Prescott and check out the saloons. Then head to Jerome and old hill side mining town thats now a artist community of 329 people.
make our way to sedona for a quick meal and end the trip at the grand canyon.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Well my mother is one of my greatest role models in life because she model a spirit of excellence even unto this day at 92. Bruno Mascolo has been my greatest role model in business because of his his ability to motivate and inspire people and the lessons he taught me about how to improve (If it ain’t broke, break it and improve it). I owe most of my success as a (NLP) mindset coach to Tad James and as a (Leadership) coach to John Maxwell
