We had the good fortune of connecting with giovannie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi giovannie, why did you pursue a creative career?
When I read this question the answer that comes to mind is to own self expression. And then I start to think how being creative doesn’t just come to an end especially not based on some random timeline. Art has a lot of grey area and you get to make up the rules.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well I am what they call a graffiti or spray paint artist and I specialize in black and grey portraiture but I believe I am an overall creative and I guess I’m just learning how to present myself to the world. Im a late bloomer I’ve only been creating art for about five years now and been full time for two. And honestly I am nowhere near where I think I will be but until then I just want my journey and story to inspire people to pursue their dreams and bet on themselves no matter what industry it is you gotta get creative to set yourself apart from the rest.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Man I’m so simple that this is not a role I like to take on lol. But since I am a street artist I would basically take them to go see all my murals if they haven’t seen them and then we would explore near by places and then other then that I would show them grand ave and Roosevelt row because those are the art districts and where I hang out usually so yeah it’s going to be all art things with me and then some night life for drinks and hang with my boys that Dj.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Oh my I think that’s a long list but if I had to shoutout one person it would be my little brother. He came back into my life when I was a lost soul and his drive to learn music reminded me of those nights when I would stay up for hours without a care in the world just being creative and letting it flow knowing I had work in the morning or football weights in the early morning before the sun comes up. So shout out my brother for snapping me out of that vortex
