We had the good fortune of connecting with Hank Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hank, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Hard work. It sounds cliche I know, however nothing else has gotten me as far. The lane my business is in, is really being paved as I go. I am in a constant creative “work” mode, taking in ideas and working to push the envelope, think outside of the box and create something new regardless of what others think.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am the first official engraver for Monster Energy. It’s still surreal to be able to say that. If you would have asked me 10 years ago when we started this if I thought this would happen, I probably would have laughed. I had no idea where this random hobby would take me.
After a few years of selling small custom art pieces, I was noticed by Dremel in 2013 and was approached to attend a show and do live demonstrations. I had never done anything like this before, but I went. Since then, I have been a staple at the Spring and Fall Ace Shows and traveled all over the county and even to other countries with Dremel. In 2018 after many many emails and attempts over the years to show Monster what I did, they took notice and I became the official Engraver for Monster Energy.
Nothing about how I got where I am now has been easy. Lots of time spent away from my family, investing money in a project that I had no idea if it would even work. Hell, I spent $80,000 on a brand new truck and basically went and scratched it all up! I was terrified when I took the first pass on the side of Freedom Blues, but I had bigger plans. I still do. I have accepted opportunities with open arms and let the business naturally grow in directions I never imagined and I’m not even close to being done yet.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without my wife and kids. They have always supported even the craziest of ideas and pushed me through with excitement knowing it would be worth it in the end. Also, a huge thank you to my brother Nick Hamm from the Warrior Built Foundation. Thank you for everything you do for me, for my family and others.
