We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Cohrs and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hannah, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
Networking and getting my brand out there has been the #1 factor behind the success of CraftedbyHannahCo! Meeting other business owners and making those relationships has helped me learn and grow my business to where it’s at now. From January 2022 to June 2022 I worked at my city’s Chamber of Commerce, Queen Creek Chamber of Commerce, to make new connections and interact with other businesses in Queen Creek and its surrounding cities. CraftedbyHannahCo. will turn two years old September 2022 and I’m so excited to see where the future takes us!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
CraftedbyHannahCo. is a small-batch handmade polymer clay women’s accessory brand. We sell items ranging from lightweight earrings to beautiful hair clips. Most jewelry you get out there are heavy or they just don’t show off your personality. Our items are lightweight, customizable and easy to order through our website. I’m so excited about where our brand is headed as we move to North Carolina.
After playing around with polymer clay back in 2020 I found my love for it and that’s when this business started in September 2020! First we started out as an Etsy shop and grew within that first year to have the ability to host our own website! Now we have a website and brand that stands out from the rest!
One of the biggest lessons I have learned through having this business is to have thick skin and believe in what you do. Many people will try to down-play your business, especially when having a creative/artistic business. Some may say you’re just “crafting” but no! You have built a successful business from the ground up and that it is a GREAT accomplishment!
My biggest advice to other small business owners is: don’t give up! Things may get hard and they will but keep pushing on.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We have many great places to check out here in Queen Creek! Wanting some delicious food? Check out the Queen Creek Olive Mill! Plant lover? Tour the Queen Creek Botanical Gardens! Just want a fun movie night? Stop by our local Fat Cats! My favorite, most interesting place in Queen Creek is the Queen Creek Botanical Gardens. They offer guided tours, special events, and even cooler is that everything on their campus is edible! Check them out if you’re in the area!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I couldn’t have done this without the support and guidance from my parents, Mark & Sherri. They have always encouraged me to pursue my dreams and to never give up. I would also like to thank a good friend of mine Christie Priem, Founder and Director of Chirp Consulting, for always pushing me to be the best I can be.
