Meet Harini Natarajan

We had the good fortune of connecting with Harini Natarajan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Harini, what inspires you?
I am inspired by beauty.
There is a quote that has stuck with me always.
“A thing of beauty is a joy forever” John Keats
Whenever I am behind my camera I feel called to showcase the beauty I see. It makes me focus more on bringing the beauty of the subject, their inner magical light and add dimension to their photos.
Every time I photograph nature, it leaves me awestruck. Sometimes when we go through our lives we barely register the marvel
Of creation. When I take a picture of a flower, I see so many ways to showcase the beauty it has.
Being a photographer has helped me stop and smell the roses

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started initially with shooting landscapes. San Diego has some of the most stunning vistas to capture. Some of my favorites are scripps henge, Milky Way at Anza Borrego and the San Diego Skyline. I began my people photography journey by showcasing my work with RAW Artists San Diego. I primarily do events and do brand photography for business owners. I feel like starting a business is challenging and it takes a lot to put yourself out there.
It is important to have a community of people that are going through the same journey as yourself like Hera Hub.
ABCs of my brand photography is Attract your ideal clients, Believe in your vision and celebrate your successes.
Every business owner requires marketing and reaching out to their clients. They need photographs for showcasing who they are and how they can change their customers lives.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
San Diego has so many amazing locations. My number one pick is La Jolla cove. I would do the coast drive all the way from La Jolla to Cardiff. The view driving from Carlsbad downtown down to Torrey Pines State Park is stunning. Carlsbad also has an amazing hidden gem Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation where you can interact with animals and hike down some stunning trails.
For Indian food I would take them to San Idli, Miramar and Handels Carlsbad for Ice creams.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to dedicate my shoutout to my husband Srinivas, for encouraging my photography, putting up with my gear purchases and watching the countless learning tutorials with me. I also would love to give a shout out to Meg McMillan, my mentor and inspiration! ( Meg Marie Photography)
