We had the good fortune of connecting with Harmony Shumway and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Harmony, how does your business help the community?
Our business focuses on the dog’s that most people wouldn’t want to save. The fearful, aggressive, feral dogs that take time and understanding. We work with rescues that have dogs that need work before they’re deemed adoptable. We also make a point to focus on educating the public on how to have a great relationship with their dogs through fun, structure, and boundaries.
What should our readers know about your business?
What sets us apart from other trainers is that we are passionate about working with and understanding fearful, anxious, and aggressive dogs. We met each other when our bosses (separate at the time) decided to combine their businesses into one facility. Eventually I (harmony) joined Bryan’s bosses team. Starting your own business is NEVER easy, but with hard work and passion, Nothing’s Impawsible! 😉 Starting our business in the middle of the Pandemic was pretty difficult, but through perseverance, determination and our love for educating the public on how to have the best relationship with their dog, we’ve built a great company. In this industry, you NEVER stop learning. There is always room for improvement. Dog Training is NOT cookie cutter. Not every technique works for all dogs and to treat dog training that way is a disservice to our dogs. Our business is about passion and education. We want people to build a bond with their dog and to have a positive and fun relationship.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We are very outdoorsy people so our recommendation would be to go to visit all the lakes in the area as well as checking out the forest up north in flagstaff, payson, prescott, etc. The local is an amazing diner in prescott. THE BEST breakfast burrito in the state. Their green chili gravy is to die for. Camp fires up north with the sunsets and sunrises cant be beat.
