We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Crenshaw and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Heather, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I am passionate about the health benefits of essential oils and the healing powers of crystal gemstones. I have found a way to combine the two by creating gemstone essential oil diffuser jewelry. What started out as just a hobby, quickly evolved into a business as I received positive feedback for my jewelry from family and friends.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
It was very challenging to create a business with no prior experience. Every step of the way was trial and error. I definitely am still learning how to properly run a business. I have been very lucky to meet an incredibly supportive group of other small business owners. They have helped me so much along my journey.. My best piece of advice to other new business owners is to not get discouraged and keep pushing forward. Don’t worry if every little detail is not in place from the start. It is more important to get your product out there for the world to see, and then work through all the little details. Don’t ever be afraid to ask for help! I truly believe in the value of community over competition.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I absolutely love supporting other local small businesses. My favorite places to shop are The Merchantile in Scottsdale and The Grand Project Shoppe in Peoria. They are both incredible stores that have brought together an amazing collection of local small business products. My favorite coffee shops are Lux in Phoenix/Scottsdale and Bully Brew in Glendale. They both have delicious coffee and tasty baked treats. There are so many awesome restaurants in Phoenix! My top two favorites would have to be Taco Guild in Phoenix and Fabio on Fire in Peoria. I love the fun atmosphere and gorgeous views inside the vintage church that houses Taco Guild. Their guacamole and margaritas are the best! Fabio on Fire is perfect for a romantic date night. The owner will make you feel like such a special guest. Their butternut squash ravioli is to die for! Make sure you try their homemade tiramisu for dessert! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to give a shoutout to my amazingly supportive boyfriend, David. He has been by my side since the beginning days of my business. He is the one that gave me the push I needed to transform my hobby into an actual small business. He helps me with so many things, such as making bracelets, tagging them and setting up at markets. I have been told that he is such a great representative for my brand!
