We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Dziedzic and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Heather, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I was tired of my lipsticks melting, my phone over heating and my lotions exploding or becoming runny when the temperatures rose. When I went to look for a “stylish cooling cosmetic bag” or ‘”cute bag that cools” there was nothing out there. Lots of lunch bags that were insulated but nothing that brought style and function together and was the perfect size for cosmetics vs. a sandwich. Then the wheels starting turning, the research began and I started to build a roadmap of how to make my vision come to life. I love bags, I always have. I love that they are practical, beautiful and can be a statement piece. They can elevate any outfit and be a confidence booster. They can also be a tool for success. The bags that keeps you organized with the perfect compartments or the open mouth tote that’s the ideal size to toss in anything and everything for quick pull apart access. Bergy Bag evolved through development and as I sampled fabrics the idea for our first bag was to be more than a cooling cosmetic bag, but one that would dual as a clutch whether it was cooling or not. After all it seemed the places and times you would have meltables with you like vacation, outdoor events or on the golf course may also call for a bag that could easily transition with you to the next stop ie dinner, cocktails or the clubhouse. I wanted something quality that would last long and foremost keep cool. All things considered I got an engineer involved to designed the cooling technology and we now have a patent pending. We use scratch and water resistant saffiano leather for a designer and durable exterior.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Bergy Bag is my first product based business and my third act. I started my career in the late 90s working in tech. Back then, my role was marketing solutions that were technical in nature with long sales cycles. Don’t fall asleep, there was a lot to learn and a LOT that I still implement today. Among them is the lesson to start your day first with the actives that will result in a sale. Sales allow companies to survive – start there – survive. I moved on to real estate for my second act where I eventually owned and operated a property management firm. This is where I really began to learn about customer service. It’s also where I became really good at accounting. I sold that business and this was assurance that I could create things that people wanted, they’d even pay for them. So now to the third act that combines passion with experience and all the business basics an owner needs.
Bergy Bag has been selling bags since November of 2022. A cooling cosmetic bag that is both stylish and functional has so many applications. Golfers love it, spas love it, travelers love it, resorts love it and any women who has ever lost their favorite lip balm to the scorching sun call us geniuses, they also love it. To date we have sold over 400 bags without a return. This speaks to the quality and construction of Bergy Bag. The thought and planning that has been going on since 2019 shows through in the bag that we deliver today.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I really would not be where I am today with out my dear friend Alyssa. She has been in the beauty and skin care industry for years and when I brought the idea of Bergy Bag to her so was my biggest cheerleader and mentor. She knew the players, the game and even had written chapters in the rule book. To have her enthusiastically guide me was my baseline. She introduced me to manufactures, taught me new vocabulary words and even went to meetings with me. She talked me through so many scenarios and I hung on every text message she sent because while second nature to her it was my action plan.
Here’s the thing she was beyond helpful herself, but her dad also played a huge role. He is the cytogenetic engineer that developed the insulating layers that make a Bergy Bag a cooling bag. This father and daughter duo selflessly gave me their time and know how and without either of them I may not be where I am today. My shout out goes to them loud and clear.
