We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Stutzman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Heather, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Prior to the pandemic I actually didn’t think about starting my own business. I knew I loved fitness and personal training but was always seemed too busy in my corporate career/personal life to think about building a business around it.

The pandemic afforded me the opportunity to slow down and evaluate what was really important. I knew I loved to empower others and create fitness programs that fit a person’s goals and lifestyle. There are thousands of online fitness programs available but few are built for a specific individual. After spending some time strategizing, I knew I wanted to launch a website and begin promoting Custom Fitness Programs in addition to providing personal training.

Over the past two years, Custom Programs have become my specialty. I’ve worked with clients from 19 to 61 in age in various countries and cities all over the world. From new moms to former college athletes, my client roster is ever evolving and I continue to learn so much from each person’s unique circumstances and goals.

Having a business-no matter the size has its share of challenges but it’s so rewarding to see the results!

What should our readers know about your business?
WW Fit specializes in creating custom fitness programs for individuals. As mentioned earlier, there are dozens of online challenges and quick fixes available to consumers. Most of these are not customized to one’s unique goals, circumstances, time commitment, etc. I get so excited watching clients fall in love with a program designed for them. Getting consistent and gaining strength goes such a long way in creating more confidence.

I’ve learned a lot even in two years. I’m not strong in social media and content marketing so this is always a work in progress for my business. I’ve learned that many clients, while wanting a custom program, are also looking for a hype woman/champion to push them towards their goals. Recognizing who needs that push more than others has been key in client retention. It’s also a reason why I implemented Accountability Coaching as an add on option to Custom Programs.

While WW Fit focuses on fitness, its mission is for individuals to feel empowered and inspired to make changes in all areas of their life. Feeling and looking good physically is just the bonus to a lifestyle and mindset transformation.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The Phoenix area has some of the best hiking available. If that friend was visiting for a week I would definitely head to Sedona for the day. Local hiking at Pinnacle Peak, Papago, or McDowell Mountain would be a go to.

I love to brunch and happy hour (sustainable fitness is about balance!). Some of my favorite brunch spots are Hash Kitchen, Butters, and PV Pie & Wine. Happy hour spots include Buck & Rider, Pubblico Italian, The Vig, Postino’s, STK, and Maple & Ash.

The resort/pool scene in Scottsdale is wonderful and I love to do mini staycations at The Phoenecian, Omni, or the Westin Kierland.

Catching an Arizona sunset is the ultimate end to a great day!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Don Carter Training (@doncartertraining)

DC was one of the first trainers I worked with upon moving to the Phoenix area. His background in strength and conditioning and expertise in sports performance allowed me to grow exponentially in my training knowledge.
