We had the good fortune of connecting with Henna Havila and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Henna, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
How much time everything takes. People often think that what i do is easy that i just quickly take a photo and post it on Instagram but for real it takes hours, it’s almost like a full workday. I do my make up and hair, i am my own stylist, i set up everything ready for taking photos (background, props, lights etc.) i usually also take my own photos and then i have to edit them so it all takes time.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I don’t want to put myself and what i do in any category yet, because i feel like i’m still growing and building my thing, but i do have a clear vision of what i want to represent. I want to share fashion related posts where clothes and accessories are affordable, i don’t believe in luxury brands. I think that looking good and being stylish does not require lot of money. Also i do want to stay genuine and i constantly remind my followers that what they see in social media is not real, for example that me or other people who do social media we do not wake up in the morning and look like we do in our photos. It’s make up and photo editing. I always tell that most of the time i’m without make up and wearing just joggers and i think that is what sets me apart from most of the other influencers, that i’m not trying to make my life look more fancy thru my posts and i’m always showing how things really are. I also have opened a lot of my personal life and i have told how it is being a single parent and that i have recovered from anorexia and other struggles that i have went thru in my life, like heartbreaks and i hope that helps people to realize that behind of all that glitz and glam there is always a real person behind every influencer.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would have to take my friend to see Grand Canyon (where i have not been yet) and Sedona. My favorite from Tucson is Mount Lemmon. Views from there are just amazing and it’s not so hot up there so it’s good place to escape the heat and take some great photos. I also just enjoy driving around and seeing those mountains and the desert and all of the cactuses. I also love Old Town Scottsdale, because i love western style and i would probably just visit different coffee shops and bars at the downtown in Tucson. I rather avoid tourist places and visit where is more locals, because people in Arizona are just great. I would definitely have to take my friends to Ni Hao Tea, probably everyday, because they have the best boba teas, i’m more of a coffee drinker and my favorite from their list is Coffee frappe. I love mexican food and in Tucson there is great mexican restaurant Tumerico.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Foremost my followers, without them i wouldn’t be doing this. Then this amazing influencer community where i have got a chance to get to know amazing people around the world and they have gave me their support and some of them has even became my friends. I also highly value all these brands that have reached out to me and i have been able to work with them thru collaborations and with some brands i have had a chance to continue working with, like for example GAAM Nutrition and Ideal Of Sweden.
