We had the good fortune of connecting with Herschel Forge and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Herschel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I was a kid every Saturday I would sit in the floor at my local comic shop with a pile a comic books scattered around me immersing my self into the worlds that Marvel and DC had created. There was always very little representation for African Americans in these books. So my main objective was to create a space where all under represented people would have a space to tell there story’s.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Most independents are only able to get maybe one or two books out a year in the six months we have been in business we have 3 titles and are releasing one more this year for a total of six books. We are working with a smaller budget but delivering a high quality product at the the same time getting exposer for minority artist that might not have had the opportunity any other way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have to tell you took a couple trips to Sedona this year and fell in love. Its so much cooler there in the summer and the food is some the best I’ve had in the state. Lots of small business and custom shops , but the biggest highlight is the scenery it is so beautiful there is nothing like a sunset going down behind the mountains in Sedona.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When I was eight years old I was struggling learning to read it was my Uncle (Isaiah Clark) who recognized that I was just bored with the material. He introduced me to comic books and they have been a huge part of my life every since.
