We had the good fortune of connecting with Holly Meyers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Holly, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always known I wanted my own business. I grew up with two parents who had their own business and I saw the freedom it could bring. I have also worked corporate jobs and was never fulfilled from a work or life standpoint. I have started several, most with my husband, with little to moderate success. When we came across Stella’s Ice Cream, we really believed in the concept, loved the branding, and most of all, loved the product. With my husband retiring from the Navy and my pursuits as an actress, bringing Stella’s to Arizona provides us meaningful work with the flexibility to pursue more things we love.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Stella’s Ice Cream, we strive to serve joy with every scoop. We believe that ice cream has the power to make the world a little sweeter. At our stores, we are committed to celebrating differences, crafting new creations, and making ice cream that is simply better. We’re most excited to bring this wonderful brand to our home here in Phoenix.
Our road to Stella’s was filled with wins, failures, and roadblocks. Holly started her dream business, to have it fail during the pandemic. Evan started producing his family’s jalapeno jam recipe for sale, but distribution became difficult. We started renting our houses when we moved for the military and turned it into a successful vacation rental business. We’ve both had medical roadblocks. Evan was diagnosed with and then beat cancer. Holly had two brain surgeries within two months. Throughout it all, the main lesson was to just keep going. The primary reason for our success has been our partnership as a couple and the ability to lean on each other with in and outside business.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d have to check out both downtown Gilbert and downtown Scottsdale. Both have such different vibes but are fun for an afternoon or evening out. We’d go to O.H.S.O’s in Gilbert and walk around Old Town Scottsdale, maybe checking out the local Psychic for a reading or heading to the mall. We’d also have to head to AJ’s for their cake and iced tea. The visit wouldn’t be complete without a stop at Verde at Cooley Station and Ahwatukee Foothills Town Center, of course, we’re we’ll have a Stella’s Ice Cream coming this year!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband and I would not have gotten where we are today without support from each other and help along the way from our parents, both personally and professionally.
