We had the good fortune of connecting with Holly Pace and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Holly, if you had a million dollars to invest right now, how would you use that capital?
WOW! A million dollars to invest would be a dream come true. I would use the majority of the capital to invest in the barkery as we continue to expand.
Since our last interview in 2018, we have seen exponential growth with wholesale and online sales. We moved from being home bakers to renting space out of a commercial kitchen and our goal and vision is to have our own space and equipment tailored to our trade.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Years ago, I had a career in corporate America but one of my hobbies outside of work was baking dog treats. I had 3 Border Collies at the time and wanted to feed them better than store bought. I used healthy ingredients that I loved and incorporated them into fun dog snacks. I loved creating fun recipes you couldn’t find elsewhere and it was a fun outlet for me.
In 2010 I was laid off, so I thought I’d take my hobby to a farmers market and here we are doing what we love to do 9 years later. I honestly had no idea my hobby would someday become my dream job!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Most of my friends own dogs so we typically venture to dog friendly establishments. Since I live in Gilbert, some of our favorite hang outs are in Downtown Gilbert and we like the vibe at Barnone at Agritopia. I love to shop where I work, so the Gilbert Farmers Market is a great place for homemade goodies, and we always wind up enjoying lunch on OHSO’s dog friendly patio. As a small business owner, we love to support local establishments and there are lots of fabulous places to choose from.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes! I have shoutouts to make. I have so many things to be grateful for but at the end of the day, when women come together amazing things happen! My first shout out goes to our #girltribe, Megan, Marge, Monica, Sheila, Teresa & Jessica! There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes and these ladies work very hard to make what we do look simple. Thank you ladies for your hard work and dedication. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us!
My second shout out is for my partner in crime and our biggest supporter, Dave. He loves to be involved in the business and will do anything we ask…well, within reason! His love and dedication empowers me to do things out of my comfort zone, and for that I am truly grateful.
My last shout out is to our amazing customers! We wouldn’t be here without any of our loyal FURiends, for that, we are ever so grateful!
