We had the good fortune of connecting with Isaac Hanson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Isaac, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
As our company has grown, so has my family. With four children it became very apparent that there was going to be a very important decision to be made. Time is our most precious commodity. In our industry we say you are not buying a tree, you are buying the time it took to grow that tree. So I look at my children and time the same way. I can either try to buy the time later or invest the time now. It has been a struggle at times, but with an amazing partner and great business partners, Dad and Step Mom, it has been an absolute pleasure!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Our company is a family business first. We have really set the tone that we care about our employees and customers like family. When things go well we celebrate them and when things go wrong we look for ways to prevent it the next time instead of finding fault.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Depending on what time of the year it would involve either a trip to beach, Cardiff/Solana beach area, go surfing, eat at Pipes restaurant for breakfast, do some shopping at the local spots. Winter time head up to the local snow resort and get some runs in and then head down the hill to Mary Stewarts resturaunt for Fried Chicken and sweet potatoe pie, then off to the Factory outlets in Cabazon.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Several people actually. I have been very lucky to have my dad Jerry behind me and beside me through it all. He not only gave me the opportunity, but also allowed me to fail and succeed on my own merit. Seven years ago I met a wonderful woman, Brandi, that has really changed my trajectory as well as the businesses. Again, someone who was behind and beside me in almost every decision. Being a recovering addict, having people who believe in you is not common. Thanks to these two along with my Sponsor, I have been able to not only be successful but also grow as a man, father and business partner.
