Meet Deepika Grover | Author & Animator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Deepika Grover and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Deepika, what makes you happy? Why?
Dark cloudy sky with rain outside in the morning energizes and persuades me all at once. I am the person who not only becomes happier immediately but also can alter my mood for the rest of the day with just a little sound of downpour.
It helps me to take my mind off of stressful situations. And if there is a huge thunderstorm going on during night time with loud and heavy noise it just makes me crazy like frogs, and it is the best sound for me in this whole world.
There is also an incredible emblematic importance to the pre-winter downpours. As rain refreshes dry soil, God invigorates the spirits of his kin with his Holy Spirit. Here and there throughout everyday life, we might experience “dry” seasons, which could be seasons of dissatisfaction, slip-ups, misery, or demoralization. Regardless of whether we are confronting any predicament or not, routine work can also deplete us dry. Our unflinching and incessant faith and trust in the Universe will definitely bring the rain of the Universe’s Spirit to encourage and enliven our hearts.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an author – “The Floating Soul” and a creative designer and animator who love to play with words and graphics. My journey of professional life started 10 years ago as a design faculty when I was quite young, I had a great time of about 4 years with my co-faculties and students. A classroom is a complex social environment and students must be treated as perplexing and smart people. I always believed that the reason for instructing is to give understudies a structure with which they can test the restrictions of their scholarly ability. So I had always included strategies like discussion, activity-based projects, problem-solving games, and so on in the educational program through which students could explore their insight. Flexibility, Patience, Discipline were few qualities which helped me in managing the complexity of the classroom environment.
Later on I decided to switch my career towards design platform so I started as an intern with a renowned multinational company. Shifting to a new career as a fresher is not an easy move especially if you are already an experienced employee. There are lots of issues and one of them is salary so my salary was reduced to the half which I was getting earlier during my teaching time. This thing hits me really hard, but somehow I explained myself that this is the time to make things work for my best and this is the place where I could get more knowledge and with little hard efforts I could be at the same place within a little time span, and later on definitely on higher positions. Not only professionally, but it was also difficult on personal basis, because of some family restrictions. As the new work place was very far away from my home and it was taking 6 hours daily for travelling with different modes of transportation. But with all of my faith and positive energy I have completed my internship, learned lots of new skills, and become more focused on what I want exactly. So after a little career break I found a full time opportunity with another big company with good salary package and great working environment.
“Hard work always pays off – I got to know the exact meaning of this phrase.”
During the pandemic situation was really tough for everyone and I lost my job and got few allergies attack. Things were turning me into depression mode I was not able to focus on anything. But life has to move on No matter what. So I planned my daily routine once again and I am still on that routine.
After few months of relaxation I got an idea to write a book and express my thoughts in the form of words. So I started writing everyday and soon I got a story to write up. It took me 6 months to write this short story. The story belongs to a journey of 20 years, where a girl has faced lots of odds and even throughout her life. Tiara the main face of the story is the feeling of almost every teenage girl “of falling in love” but in the case of Tiara she ended up with nothing but the darkness all around. And after so many wars, she finally woke up differently one morning. And that’s where the coin flipped. Her voice turned dreadful and her actions become demonic. The main theme of this book is based on horror events and mystery.
The Floating Soul – name of my book. You can find it on amazon.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I usually like places which are full of nature- forests, lakes, ghats, and so on. Not only because we can have a fresh air in forests but also it always feels so refreshing to step into the shade on a hot summer day, and the more trees, the more shade! Whether it’s bugs in the leaf litter, a bird in a tree or a squirrel bouncing from one branch to another, you’re presumably going to see an animal or two when you visit a backwoods. The little chirping of birds feels so refreshing and re-energized after playing among trees. Last week my old friend was in the town so I took her to the Sanjay van, in Hauz Khas. It was a hot sunny day with little heat waves but as we enter the forest area trees overshadowed us thickly, and the sun was playing fitfully through the leaves on lovely dusky roads. The place is a lung space of Delhi, and paradise for bird watchers. It has been a home to native as well as rare migratory species. Indian peafowl, grey heron, Eurasian golden oriole, honey buzzards, purple sunbird, Asian koel, Brahminy Starling can be seen easily at this place. There are few hills present over here and one of the cluster is named as peacock hills. The part is fully covered with beautiful flora and fauna. Apart from a beautiful green place of Delhi, Sanjay Van is known for some haunted tales. There are a few graves and Mazaar of Sufi saints in this; along with the broken ramparts of Qila Rai Pithora, the town which was originally established in the South Delhi.
There is no exact story why people see this place haunted, but I felt some super natural powers are there once you step deep inside the forest.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My whole life is dedicated to the one my world spins around, who made me believe in a small little word “LOVE.”
It was a clear moonlight, and a lonely dark night, When my heart was crawling cloudless climes in a starry skies.
My eyes met his, where thoughts were expressed quietly, the grin that wins, the blush that bloom.
And that’s all when a mind gets its peace, and a heart whose love is sinless.
