We had the good fortune of connecting with Isabel Mauricio and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Isabel, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Always staying consistent with my education and learning how I can be an entrepreneur leader in my field of work or be part of team to learn how it all works.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My photography comes from the heart, capturing moments that I know I would want framed perfectly on my wall or photo album. My love for cinematic movies helps me in capturing natural light and movement on photography sessions. I don’t want my portraits too look like a 90s perfect family sitcom. I want to capture the genuine love & fun that families have organically is what I believe sets me apart. As I go back and look at all my work I’ve completed for all my Saguaro Blossom clients’ in their galleries I am filled with pride and accomplishments that I never thought I’d have. When I send my clients their portrait galleries is the part I get the most excited about to hear them say they are amazed how awesome they looked or how much they loved them and framed them. To get where I am today it took a lot of self motivation, I had to learn to step out of my comfort zone and just try. The worst thing I could do is fail and I can learn from it and try not to make the same mistake again. I had to get in the mindset that if I wanted to create something beautiful I had to think I am worth it and if I worked hard I can accomplish it. Some lessons I’ve learned is that it’s ok to start over and learn new things at any age. I want the world to know that I found photography during a hard time for, not only myself but the rest of the world in 2020. I had a wake up call on my health, my goals and I decided this is not what I want to be remembered for. I want to show my kids you can find what you love and do it the rest of your life if you work hard at it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Sedona, flagstaff, Payson are the favorite places to be at in Arizona for me. Whether you want to explore the red rocks in Sedona and dine out. Or camp out in the woods and go fishing in Payson at Woods Canyon lake is where I go to hit restart. Flagstaff in the winter to actually enjoy some snow and ski lifts. There’s never a dull moment in Arizona.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shout out to my Grand Canyon University Professors in planting the seed that my education can take me places. To my loving husband and children who teach me that everyday with hard work and patience everything is so worth the memories. My family always there when I needed them to watch our boys when I had to go out and photograph clients on last minute notice. Last but not least my nanas who taught me the magic of photos and how memories really do last a lifetime.
