We had the good fortune of connecting with Izzy Mahoubi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Izzy, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking is the only reason I’m playing music today. I decided to play at an open-mic-night when I was eleven years old, and not long after, I wrote and produced my first original song. I had no clue what the future looked like, but I guess that is what excited me most!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a singer/songwriter and I have been performing in Arizona and Nashville for four years! I have three singles out that are available on all streaming platforms! When I first began chasing my dreams I shortly learned the harsh truth that not everyone is going to support you. I can say now at the age of 15, that when you are trying to tell the world your story, age can still make people view you as weak. Within each song I try to write from a place of authenticity. When someone listens to my words my hope is that they would feel understood. I am still writing songs daily through the dark times in the world and that allows me a place to escape.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The following is a day in the life before Covid: Arizona is filled with beautiful sceneries, live music, and great restaurants! I would start off in Old Town Scottsdale and try every coffee shop that is there including some of my favorite places to perform like Sip Coffee House and JOJOS Coffee. Then we would explore Phoenix shops like Pueblo Life (one of my favorite plant stores!) For lunch we are eating at Pizzeria Bianco which has some of the greatest Italian food I have ever had!!! Lastly, night would end by catching a live show at the Rebel Lounge!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate this shoutout to my parents! From the beginning, my parents have supported my crazy dreams with endless love and encouragement.I also want to give a shoutout to my second family down in Nashville, Tennessee. The Seabrook’s welcomed me into the city of music and opened my eyes to a different world of songwriters. (Miss you guys!)
