We had the good fortune of connecting with Jackie Brewer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jackie, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
I have learned that failure is just a chance to learn and grow. I’ve tried my hand at many things and feel like I’ve learned from all of them. I have 6 kids so I pivot and adjust when I need to. Creatively, I try to expand and push into a lot of ideas and mediums. That drives my careers as well. Someone I admired creatively years ago taught me to do something creative every single day which I try to do!
It’s been hard sometimes but I try to overcome fear with any new project. I experiment a lot of things and some I’m great at, some I’m not. But I use every previous experience to fuel what is next. I also think gratitude is essential to any success in life.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The podcast with my sister, Pop Run Radio, is our newest endeavor that we are so excited about! My sister Maegan is my angel on earth. When my son Abe passed away suddenly at 23 months old, Maegan saved me. She would get me out of bed and take me on a pop run at 9:00 am sharp, purely to get me up and out of the house. We have been doing that for over 10 years. So we wanted to share the healing powers of a pop and a chat with everyone! After a year and a half we have over 70,000 downloads which has been awesome. We also have been partners in Real Estate since 2016. We want to champion everyone. Literally our podcast is to celebrate everyone we talk to. It is a mash up of interviewing anyone we can think of, hearing anyone’s stories no matter what the subject, using humor to solve all problems and treat our listeners like they are going on a “pop run” with us, drinking a soda on a car ride solving all the world’s problems.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Our small community is still packed with a lot of fun things to do. Obviously we’d start with a pop run at Thirst Soda in Taylor. Then we’d stop at grab a pastry at Perkatory Coffee shop. After the car ride to solve life’s problems and boost up anyone who needs a lift, we’d grab some lunch at Snowflake Smokehouse. We’d then need some pie from Trapper’s Cafe. Over the week we’d hike the trails that Snowflake/Taylor have worked so hard on lately, and head to White Mountain Lakes with our irrigation pass. We would also swim at our uncle Tom’s pond (which by the way, his entire property is for sale if you want an actual oasis here in Snowflake, with a canyon, pond, huge home and guest home all in one.) We would do a lot of porch sitting and chatting, we are lucky the weather up here is great and we can hang out outside all summer long. We would take the kiddies to Pioneer Park, have some cookouts out by 5 mile canyon, and anyone enjoy the stunning sunsets. The evenings would be spent doing an outdoor yoga session with Talia Clare, a great friend of mine.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This is dedicated to my Fanny Pack. They are a group of women who have always been supportive to me, and we are fun enough to name our group obviously! Carly, Jessi and Maegan thank you! Starting a new podcast was scary, and their feedback was invaluable to my sister and I. They also inspire me creatively and we cope with being mamas together! I am also so grateful for my sister in law Paula, she manages all our social media for the pod and she keeps me sane most days. I love being a mom and my kids are my greatest accomplishment!!! I love you Kaiden, Ellie, Asher, Liam, Abe, Ollie and Hazel. And thank you Jon for rolling with my personality.
