We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacob Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jacob, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The idea behind starting my own business is just that: it’s my personal business. There’s so many fields to choose from when choosing a career, but not many that you can be your own boss. My goal in life has always been to have a career that I’m passionate about but also one where I can determine the processes and make the decisions as I see fit. Working as a Realtor gives me the opportunity to do just that. I’m in control of my business. It gives me the opportunity to build and grow as I see fit, and that is incredibly satisfying to me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve always been a people person. From the time I was little to my life today, I’ve always enjoyed meeting new people and hearing their stories. Real Estate has given me the chance to not only make so many connections with incredible people, but it has also given me the chance to help these people make some of the biggest and thrilling decisions of their lives. There’s nothing like seeing the satisfaction of my clients as they walk into a new home they have purchased! I get to help people achieve their dreams, and that feeling is unmatched.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Often when folks that aren’t from AZ visit, they choose Scottsdale as their destination. While I enjoy Scottsdale immensely, there is so much more to Arizona than that city. Downtown Phoenix is my go-to for food, nightlife, entertainment, and leisure. The people and culture in Phoenix is some of the richest in the country. There’s so many wonderful restaurants to choose from, whether it be your favorite Mexican food, Barbecue, Asian cuisines, or a good old burger. Some of the best musicians from all around the world choose Phoenix as a place to perform. There is endless entertainment options in Phoenix, from paint classes to a classic Southwest rodeo, there’s no room to be bored here.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First off, I’d like to give a shoutout to my partner Shawn. He’s been incredibly supportive on my journey of starting my own business. I couldn’t ask for someone more supportive and patient. Getting started in Real Estate is quite a bit of work, and doesn’t always give you instant return. He has always been there for me when I have my struggles, but also the wins as well. Second, I’d like to shoutout to my amazing company Hunt Real Estate ERA. There’s so many companies to choose from when hanging your license. Hunt has been incredibly welcoming to me as an agent. They have so many great tools to help grow my business. I have been given so much invaluable information shared by fellow agents. I’m very lucky to have the Hunt team on my side.
