We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaime Castillo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jaime, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Generally speaking, I don’t believe individuals become successful by their own doing. While becoming successful does require individual characteristics like determination, focus and perseverance, I owe a lot of my personal success to the support of my family, who instilled in me that I could do anything I wanted and who provided unwavering encouragement when I doubted myself. Now that Find Your Shine has grown to be bigger than me, it’s continued success is in large part because of the quality of our team. Kathryn Minshew once said, “A company is only as good as it’s people” and she was absolutely right. Each Find Your Shine therapist is absolutely exceptional. When making hiring decisions I ask myself, “Would I trust this person to treat my most beloved family member?” If the answer is no, I pass. Each one of our therapists is truly remarkable, all for different reasons.
What should our readers know about your business?
Find Your Shine started as a private practice mental health therapy office consisting of me, myself and I, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in the treatment of Trauma and Anxiety. I founded Find Your Shine in 2017 and since that time, it has grown to be a group practice of 7 Mental Health Therapists, 2 Certified Yoga Instructors, 1 Clinical Coordinator and 5 Clinical Interns. We believe and base our practice around the famous Rumi quote, “We are stars wrapped in skin. The light we are seeking has always been within.” We believe that people have within them what it takes to live fulfilled, meaningful lives and we see our role as supporting people in peeling back the layers of fear, doubt and uncertainty so they can live their most celebrated lives. Our therapists care deeply about the people they serve and balance that unconditional compassion with an understanding and practice of evidence-based treatment modalities to help their clients reach their goals. We also regularly collaborate in assessing the needs of the community and work to come up with ways to meet those needs in a more accessible, effective way. (One way we do this is by creating free mental-health related content on our IG – @findyourshinetherapy)!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I might be biased, but I’d definitely recommend a Find Your Shine Yoga class. Other local places I enjoy are Liberty Market for Brunch, Joe’s Farm Grill, Postino Wine bar, Teharu Sushi, Press Coffee, The Coffee Shop at Agritopia, and the Gilbert Farmer’s Market (mostly for the dogs, tbh). I’d also recommend Boba Bliss for boba drinks. As far as shopping goes, The Plant Stand of Arizona is a cool place to look at and/or buy some plant friends and The Lifestyled Co is a really cute boutique with both clothing and home decor. If you’re in the mood for a day or weekend trip, I’d highly recommend Oak Creek Canyon in Sedona (it’s stunning!), Arizona Snowbowl in Flagstaff, or Joshua Tree, CA (they have the cutest Air Bnb’s!)
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents, brothers, husband, the Find Your Shine therapy team, and my best friend Chelsea.
