We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaime Louise and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jaime, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The shop has not opened yet but will be soon, and can be found at jaimelouise.shop. It
is an online gallery offering my original art and prints. The goal with my art projects is to
eventually merge them with my novels on Patreon, which include Family Dramas,
Romance, and Fantasy stories about soulmates and true love, mermaids and giants,
and time travel and the latest scientific discoveries. I want my art to tell my stories, and
my stories to tell my art, and they will be one. And my purpose is to share my vision
through the chaos towards happiness, and into a softer quieter world where we belong.
I am a contemporary artist and work in watercolor, acrylic, oil, and mixed media.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been passionate about telling stories through art and words since I was little. And it feels like, in life, God keeps bringing me back to create these things because it is part of his design, and I should share them.
Right now, there are several collections I am working on, and Cats by the Tracks is one of them. They are paintings about a community of indoor and outdoor cats that live near the Union Pacific railroad, which is a cargo train that runs past my backyard. I like the sound of it, it reminds me of my childhood and when I took the train to school in Northern California. Along with my art and writing projects, it makes me feel like my place here on earth is infinite, and even though I am sitting still, I could be moving
through all different types of situations and still be in the same place.
Here, in Arizona, cats are legally allowed to roam free, and the pound will not pick them up if a person calls and asks. They have rights. Some people do not like this, while others go out of their way to create sanctuaries for them. And, like people,
the cats, when allowed to breed and accumulate, have their own social network and ways they get along with each other that are similar to people. They form family groups, each has their own best friend, and there are bullies, and predators to avoid. Many have time schedules and travel to different locations when food is served. Some of the houses, here, in the neighborhood where I live, know the same cats.
The main objective I have with my projects is to bring light, hope, and love to complicated situations. I enjoy listening to French music and sermons while I work. And I pray daily for God’s inspiration, for this life to be beautiful, and to meet kind people who want these things too.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to places that represent an old part of Arizona that is almost lost, like the Goldfield Ghost Town and The Lost Dutchman State Park, Chuck Box in Tempe which is the only small restaurant I know of that has survived corporations taking
over small businesses, and Mr. Poncho’s in Mesa because the cook is from the old Restaurant Mexico from Mill Avenue in Tempe, and he kept the menu the same. And Old Town Scottsdale has the Sugar Bowl, from the Peanuts cartoon, art galleries, little shops with Old West memorabilia, and fun gifts to take home. It also has bars and is a popular place to socialize.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I love Mr. Panchos restaurant, it’s wonderful. The chef used to work in Tempe and opened his own place in Mesa. https://www.yelp.com/biz/mr-pancho-mexican-food-mesa
