We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamie Thurber and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamie, what do you attribute your success to?
I’d say the single most important factor behind my success has been to do it my way, that no matter how much noise there was out there trying to tell me that I could mold myself to fit someone else’s idea of what I should be, that I never did. I’ve always stayed true to who I am, how I want to show up, how I want to help people, and how I want my life to be. Even in the time when it would have been easier and in many cases more profitable to do something else, I’ve always stayed true to me. I made a commitment to myself really early on in my life to be as authentic as I possibly could all of the time and to be transparent about it- I believe that’s a big part of why I’m able to reach so many people with my message and help them.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a coach and consultant who works with individuals who want more out of their lives. I believe that there is no on-sized-fits-all methodology that works for every person and something that sets me apart is that I take the time to work closely with someone as we find out what works for them specifically. I believe in sustainability being a big part of how to create not only financial success but also having happiness and enjoyment in your life as well and that’s something I think the coaching world is lacking. I’m most proud of the brand I’ve built and that I’ve been able to help people all over the world simply by choosing to show up, share my gifts and experiences I’ve had in business and being vulnerable. That light has found many people who needed me and I’m so proud of the things I’ve been able to help them create for themselves.

I got to where I am today by being consistent. Consistently paying attention to the ways that I was able to help people. Consistent with my own growth journey and ability to continue to grow as a woman and business owner. The consistency of showing up not only for everyone in my audience but for myself has been a major key, that and being able to adapt and think outside of the box.

No, it’s not been easy! The struggles of not knowing if it’s really working or questioning yourself or not making the income that you need to are all real things. The fact that you have to stay on top of things and there is really no one else to answer to but yourself was a journey of switching from the negative self talk that led that into the self love and grace that is necessary to do business like this in a way that supports me and is a gift-not a struggle. I counter-act that every day with a strict mindset routine.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way is that most of the answers you need will come from inside of you. The more you look outside of yourself for what you “need” the more you’ll hold yourself back.

I want the world to know that I believe that life is full of choices and we can choose to things that push us forward, that we can create happiness AND success at the same time. I believe in the power of being a kind human and that if we all focused more on things we could actually have an effect on, we would make a big, powerful, positive impact. You CAN design a life you love.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a friend was here visiting, I’d absolutely take them somewhere outdoors to explore. The unique things that every area has to offer is a gift and always a fun adventure for someone who’s not from here. I also enjoy finding small, local restaurants and coffee shops to eat at and experience! You can never go wrong with good scenery and good food.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a shoutout to my partner Tony. For the past 10 years he’s believed in me, he’s helped me see that the ideas I had of how this business could exist were NOT crazy and were in fact possible. He’s not an expert in my field but he is an excellent business man, team leader, and one of the smartest humans I know so having him as a sounding board through this journey has been something I’m incredible grateful for. And something I know is a large privilege. Building your own business can be lonely, it’s trying and has the highest highs and lowest lows and having him to listen and believe in me has been a huge support.
