We had the good fortune of connecting with Jane Weissner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jane, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
After completing my Bachelor Degree in December 2016, I decided to take a break from college. The following year in Fall 2017 I wanted a Halloween Wreath on my door. I wanted it big and colorful. So I decided to make one following a video I found online. I received so many compliments that my friends and relatives encouraged me to make a few for Valentines Day. I opened an Etsy site in 2018 and started selling Valentines wreaths. I was so happy that people liked them and with the overwhelming responses and family encouragement I then started making Easter and Patriotic wreaths. They all started selling.

The enjoyment of the people buying my designs and also the enjoyment of making them for me was a win-win. I could create something that I took pleasure in designing and it could be a small business at the same time.

Each year I have doubled my income and also seem to challenge myself in creating new designs that are different and unique.

I have multiple followers and multiple customers who have come back and I have made them custom orders locally and online.

As long as I am healthy and enjoy making wreaths, I will continue to pursue the craft so others may enjoy there special custom wreaths for their loving homes.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Ritzy Glitzy Wreaths is bringing over-the-top quality wreaths to the customer. I strive to make my wreaths come alive! My wreaths are usually very large and have top quality ribbons with jewels and embellishments not found in local retail stores. When I started I did use local products and still do. However, I have learned about show markets and attend them annually to seek out items that are different, unique, and limited quantities.

One of the lessons I have learned is to shop with a variety of vendors. Because this way, I can create a wreath using multiple vendors’ products. I don’t put all my eggs in one basket. Especially when businesses have delays, or close down.

I don’t find making wreaths challenging. I have always found that I am bringing my wreath to life. I love when I can see the finish and how I created my items such as my snowman, skulls, mannequin head decors, and even my bows.

I think I want the world to know is to think for yourself and be different. Don’t try to do what everyone is doing. Its hard not to look at other wreaths and what other wreath makers are doing. I think you have to dig deep within yourself , clear your head, clear your table and just go for it! That’s when you can really shine!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Living in Cave Creek, AZ I think our little town is quite unique. We have restaurants, little shops, and it still has some of the old west Charm. I love dining at Brugos in Cave Creek for gourmet pizza, I think its the best! I love a good steak at Prestons in Scottsdale, AZ. I recently have been ejoying the local juice bar in Cave Creek called Nekter which makes awesome smoothies. For Arizona getaways my favorite spot is Prescott Arizona. I love the small town feel and has local craft fairs. I love seeing the court house lit up during winter time. If there’s snow, it even adds to the beauty of seeing the saguaro cactus have snow on their big giant arms in the desert.

I love the beauty that the Cave Creek desert has with coyotes, javelinas, quail, bobcat that are just passing by. Sometimes you might even spot a brown eagle, a big owl, or even a wild turkey. The Arizona desert is full of surprises!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to mention that my daughter Rachel DeFelice was a huge supporter and really got me to pursue selling my wreaths and decor items online.. I also would like to mention D.Stevens Fine Ribbons in Phoenix, Arizona who welcomed me with open arms when I began my career in wreath making. My husband Mike, is also a huge fan, who often likes daily pictures of my creations. There is one local Arizona customer Tami Seward of Gilbert, Arizona who has stuck with me from the beginning and has noticed my changes and growth in my wreath adventure. Thank you All for supporting my little craft into a beautiful beautiful gift that I can share with others.
