Meet Jayde Anderson | Film Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jayde Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jayde, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I am inspired by authenticity, true stories and overcoming struggle. I admire people who do not let hurdles get in the way of their dreams and figure out a way to overcome any situation.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I pull most of my art from personal experiences. My first script I wrote was a mix of what my day job was and an abusive alcoholic I was with and my short documentary I made stemmed from a bad heartbreak. One of the things I’ve learned is that turning experiences whether bad or good, into your art somehow, helps in learning from them and also healing.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Huntington Beach now but when I go back home to visit family in Arizona for a long weekend my favorite spots to re-visit are my old stomping grounds in both Glendale and Arcadia. The best dive bar in Glendale that my best friend and I have to always go to is Enochs. Then when I head over to Arcadia, Postinos, La Grande Orange and D’Lite are MUSTS. And finally, if there is time, then a good ole hike at Thunderbird mountain is my favorite activity with friends.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d have to dedicate this shoutout to my business and film partner, Melvin Deer. Without him, none of my success would be possible. Melvin and I met in film school on my Capstone project where he was the editor. After we got to know one another he asked if I’d direct a short film he wrote and that’s when we opened up Vindication Films LLC. I’ve never had someone believe in me so much so, that they poor their heart and soul into our projects and also help further my education and expertise. He has done nothing but be there for me, support me and believe in me with his whole heart. And I am extremely grateful to have him as a partner in our business and will never forget all that he’s done for me.
